ALTERNATE TITLE: NIGHTMARES COME TO LIFE

This would make for a good time to determine whether or not some stories can be included in the saga. I really want to do this, their powersets are pretty interesting to see interact. So I'll make this for now and see how it goes
● ------------------------------------- ●
Malak watched over a confrontation in one of the mansion's many rooms, trying to find a camera setting to see through all the red smoke around. He had managed to snag Mike thanks to this new monster he had acquired, bringing him in once he had been knocked out.

"I suggest you use the infrared mode," Spooky suggested.
"I am seeing enough red, here!" Malak replied.

"Its other name is thermal imagery."
"Oh..."

Clicking the button, the camera now showed the heat outlines of the people involved which included Catnap due to his machinery. He was a unique one, Spooky just showing up one day dragging him along. After some explanations, he willingly joined along, seemingly shaken by an incident of some sort yet still stable enough to serve.

"I never got to ask this but, where did you find him?" Malak asked.
"This place used to be a laboratory before I took over. Now that I'm no longer in charge I uh... started reading some of the less important documents. I found out that they had some... collaborations. While everyone here is dead, the people in those other places aren't. I guess you can say I just uh... made some calls," Spooky explained.

The lab was a mess... well, more than usual. Among the wrecked furniture, golden dust can be seen littering its wake, decaying like all the rest. And the owner was leaning over a door, scratched, bruised, and barely standing. Watching over him was a one-eyed disheveled woman and a familiar ghostly child, waiting ominously for his response.

"And you... you promise?" Sylvester asked, taking a bag from his broken desk.
"Perhaps... You're quite an interesting soul~" Spooky replied

"I was barely involved. It's just a citation to my research, why?"
"Simple really... You're still alive."

Sylvester turned to look at his approaching assailants, the one-eyed woman in particular reaching out as the world began to warp around them.

"You cannot dream without darkness. You cannot wake without pain," she said, the broken lab turning into an industrious factory line, a tinge of color... primarily red.
"Well, good luck," Spooky added, leaving Sylvester in this new place.

So Sylvester just falls asleep thanks to a combination of the Red Smoke and his own Epithet, summon Beefton, then have him oneshot CatNap?

Yeah that's the gist of it

Though considering the nightmares CatNap has made, it's a possibility that some of the things there may end up getting manifested. And if that doesn't work, he does have decent stealth and surface scaling to get away from Beefton

The difference here is CatNap's stuff are hallucinations while Sylvester's stuff are real. The gold dust probably won't put CatNap to sleep due to him being unaffected by his own Red Smoke that he exhales. What does CatNap fear?

Well, we don't really know what CatNap fears, other than maybe being abandoned by the Prototype? Not really sure how that would manifest in Nightmare Fuel, could be like Mera and not do anything. Also, Sylvie said that Molly was 'drowsy enough' to use nightmare fuel on her once the sheep hit her, so there is also the possibility that CatNap is just immune to it entirely since I don't think CatNap sleeps.

The gas does produce hallucinations, but it is also stated to cause really bad nightmares. There is a chance that if Sylvester tries to use Dream Big and summon Beefton, his dream could be influenced. Not really sure what would happen but Beefton is directly linked to Sylvie's dreams, which could even force him to wake up and dispell Beefton.
The main thing is CatNap is physically stronger than Sylvie, but Beefton is stronger than CatNap, so it depends on whether the gas interferes with Beefton at all.

Sylvie might be able to light the gas on fire like the player did, that would certainly hurt CatNap a lot, but that would require Nightmare Fuel again, and depends on if CatNap has pyrophobia like Molly.

What does CatNap fear?
Prototype, or at least retaliation for failing the Prototype, and that thing is something you don't want to summon.

Otherwise... Beefton is a GG EZ win button that Catnap will literally step into every time due to his red smoke being his main attack he constantly uses

Well, Nightmare Fuel doesn't work if the fear is already a reality so he won't be able to summon it anyway.

But yeah, Beefton just stomps Catnap unless he knows to avoid him and attack the unconscious and defenceless human on the floor instead which seems unlikely.

Should I give Catnap prior knowledge then?
Make it specific Prior Knowledge-- as in, Catnap knows what Beefton looks like and how strong he is, but not anything else on the matter otherwise the red smoke will never come out and Catnap will just murk Ashling.

Yeah it's actually OOC for Catnap to go straight for the kill lol

I guess Sylvester can summon the flock of sheep to surround Catnap then fall asleep and have Beefton jump him while he's distracted. He knows that there's this minotaur that can fold him but nothing else so he's going to get caught off guard when Beefton just appears seemingly out of thin air.

Catnap would just dip if surrounded, probably climbing into a vent or something along those lines. This is a hunter, not a straight up fighter.

Thing is the sheeps won't be able to do jack to him. They can barely hurt a 10-B so he doesn't really have a reason to run unless he's that much of a coward. They're just there to buy time and draw his attention for Beefton to come into play.

You have a horrible misunderstanding on how Catnap operates.

He is literally described as "living for the hunt", what sport is there in essentially harmless sheep?

If I'm not wrong, that is contradicted by him stalking and hunting the Player who is also defenseless against him for the majority of his chapter.

Yeah. Over the course of some hours. Not just executing them. (Which he had the chance to do several times)

Oh hang on a minute, I was wrong about something. I watched episode 3 again and Sylvester doesn't just fall asleep on the floor. He's literally inside of Beefton while he's active so he's not actually defenseless. Is Catnap smart enough to figure out that he has to wake the guy up to get rid of the bull?

Catnap's entire tactics is observe from a distance and stalk so... he'd probably make Sylvester wake up just from acting normally-- of course assuming Sylvester doesn't wake up from the nightmares Catnap inflicts

I mean, CatNap has sleep powers, so dreaming something into existence isn't completely insane to him
and Sylvie literally shouts DREAM BIG at the top of his lungs before falling asleep, and then Beefton forms. he'd probably figure out it had something to do with dreams pretty quick

Well, that's a wrap. Catnap just runs the moment Beefton show up, let his stinky breath do its job, then torment and eventually kill Sylvester once he wakes up.

Ah. That uh...

that's an issue.

As I said, Catnap's gas causes nightmares, so it'd conflict with Ashling's Epithet
