Deltarune: Chapter 5 (SPOILER!!) Discussion Thread

What a doozy. Probably my favorite chapter so far. I really liked the gimmicks tbh.
Yellow destroyed a large stone brick, which is cool. The Knight cut Flowery in half and easily kidnapped Asgore, neat. Ralsei is holding out on us and has some screwy stuff going on.
Suffice it to say, Ralsei was the GOAT this chapter

Kris... that damn brat... Hitting me with a hockey stick and then shoving me in a trash can!??? WHO DO THEY THINK I AM? SPAMTON? I'm only picking options that Kris would hate from now on. I want that kid to pay

The sun in the trailer appears in-game, but it might not be literal. There’s a puzzle room near the end of the game with an identical green sun that’s actually just a fox in disguise. This dark world is probably still bigger than 7-B because of the mountains and stuff, plus that same fox has a pretty neat speed feat by flying from the background.

I've played through the main route (somewhat thoroughly), but haven't seen the Forgotten Man. The only thing I'm not okay with being spoiled on is the Weird Route. My vendetta against Kris has only grown. This is personal now.

I didn’t find the Forgotten Man either. Honestly since there’s seemingly no “point of no return” in this chapter, I’m just gonna wait until all the secrets have been found to more thoroughly find everything I missed in my main save file.

EASILY THE BEST CHAPTER AND IT'S NOT PARTICULARLY CLOSE LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

What a fun gimmick.

Here's all the things I've noticed about the chapter so far, in terms of Powerscaling, I will be adding more things as I replay the Weird Route:

I've been playing Chapter 5 without looking at spoilers and wow, this has been AMAZING so far! The new game mechanics are a huge step up from the previous chapters.
Also I fought the secret boss and uh... it is not everyone would've expected LMAO.

Very weird, super long fight that I did not enjoy. The music is fine and the dialogue is too, but it felt very out of place (especially for having a Shadow Crystal at all)
Anyway, guyyssss Ralsei is my favorite character now 🥺 I need an in-depth analysis of all the info we got on him yesterday. Flowery calls him "a living impossibility" or something like that and it's confirmed he's holding back significant power (possibly for the sake of following the Prophecy or just having fun). I really enjoyed the moments he got angry and showed off more real personality.

I'd like to point out that Flowery is wearing "His Sunday Best"

Flowery kinda implies that Darkners (or at least specific, "weird" Darkner-like beings) are able to literally just do whatever they want: change their stats, create things, mess with things however they please (Flowery does this and implies Ralsei can too, but chooses not to). The Knight is able to negate this power, however.

Ngl i think the knight is kinda a...

Wait I could not find this anywhere in the game what lemme see the footage

Anyways I think I have my own arguments on the topic of the sun that supports it but I'll probably get to that later

Left Side opening in the castle
yeah I saw that recently

it's kinda weird though because

1. Bro is green (green gaster theory real)
2. When it runs at you, the sky doesn't go pitch black like at the end of the chapter when the sun sets after the Flowery boss, instead the sky actually still has lighting which leads me to kinda believe it somehow ain't the same thing

and while I'm at it might as well post the stuff supporting it?

- Referred to as a sunset by Susie
  • Again referred to as a sunset by a shopkeeper who's literally always looking at the sunset when you talk to them
  • Oh yeah a save file near the shop in question mentions how it faces the sun like a sunflower would
  • There are wheat farms and you obviously need sunlight to grow wheat
  • I don't remember but maybe a save file mentions the sun but I know one mentions the sky
  • The entire chapter is flower based and multiple statements of "blooming" in reference to flowers
  • The end of the chapter has the sun set putting the sky and the mountain range normally visible in darkness meaning it is a source of light

shrugs

currently playing it right now (up to the Aqua boss fight), and honestly, it's pretty awesome overall!

the festival segment is, I can say, is wholesome and so good for me. I loved the interactions between Noelle and Susie and especially the lake scene where it shines the best... (If you want to know, I voted Kris and Berdly as the King and Queen lol)

For the Dark World segment, I am still playing through it but for what I gather, the introduction of Flowery's character is something that I didn't expect to see coming, and his moments in it is fun!

the layout of the first areas was sorta a bit bland for me per-say? But getting into the later areas and I can say, i pretty loved it looks! I am a little disappointed it isn't royalty-themed tho, so it can parallel Asgore's background in Undertale...

Right now, starting up a profile for Aqua (cuz I loved her character since her introduction!) and will updating it once I made some progress.

edit: oh my god getting the feather results in a platformer-like movement I loved this chapter.

Sure thing, that makes sense.

One thing though, the sky does change in some parts, but unless we have dialogue that implies the sun is fake, we have no reason to assume that off rip.

This one ain't gonna fly, it's a Dark World, you don't need logic to have something exist.
