The Amazing Digital Circus General Discussion Thread [Spoilers]

If that's the case I hope it is true! YouTube monetization apparently isn't all that good, imagine this'll make them way more money than they would've just from YouTube revenue

The decision to make it into a theatrical release movie was definitely a good one, even if a lot of people (me included) just wait for the YouTube video.

Shameless promotion for fellow Glitch folks.

I watched episode 9. It was in br. portuguese (not the worst since i know spanish and a good chunk can be understood with that) with english subtitles.

I will not say anything, but I might post a review of the ending somewhere just for the record. I will heavily spoiler it so nobody who isn't ready reads it but it is what it is.

I am copying from a reddit reply of mine.

THIS IS A FULLY SPOILER REVIEW, DO NOT OPEN IT IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERS.

It felt...disappointing. I expect to be hit, I expected to be challenged. Instead I got...nothing. Jax never got his conclusion. He's now an abstraction sleeping in a tent with a mild implication that he may or may not get better. Considering the other abstractions are now in an aquarium, clearly they're not coming back.

I was ready to accept Jax dying. I was ready to be happy for Jax surviving and finally coming to terms with things. Instead, he is now in limbo, not really dead, not really alive, just in this eternally uncertain state. I hate uncertainty more than anything and seeing this just, I was going to say pisses me off but it more so just makes me sad.

Worse for me is, them accepting being fake and living normally in this world, them knowing that their real selves are out there and they are stuck here until the end of human civilization. I know that we were told that the topic of this series is that there is a point in a static live but I just can't accept it here, not like that. Not with all the abstractions still gone despite us being shown that there's still a chance.

Everything with Jax and Pomni's relationship felt pointless in the end. This shit was going well and honestly even if they had her save him and have him come back, as cliche as it would've been, it would've made me happy, because it'd be a conclusion, the catharsis of their interactions. Instead, it reached the catharsis and then it flatlined. It led nowhere. It was all for naught and the episode treats it as it is the correct thing that should've happened.
The worst part is we're essentially ending this storyline with a character being suicidal and then just getting offscreened and not having a resolution. This is very bad imo.

I think the one and only thing that leaves a sliver of hope in this episode is the moon. Yes, the moon. Caine never programming the moon to love and yet it loving him suggests that the AI is now becoming proper sentient. Somehow the AI has given me more hope in this series about being genuine than the humans, who are now in this static reality where they'll remain and not change.

But hey, I am glad that Caine survived and changed.

It wasn't enough. It didn't resolve the right story beats, it didn't give the unexpected hit that the rest of the episodes gave. It doesn't measure up to what the series is but it also isn't bad bad, it is alright and only bad depending on your own moral compass for the most part. Watch it, it's not the boys ending if you're worried, but it has things that made me very disappointed.

a resistance and a very minor tier upgrade at most, subjective reality as expected.

I already saw it, I liked it
It seems Caine cannot be erased, and as we all knew, they have control at the same level as Caine now
I thought it was a good ending, not perfect but good

How are y'all holding up after the finale was leaked?
At this point, I might go ahead and watch the full leak knowing how easy it is to find (It's the internet, after all), even if the full leak isn't in English. At least closed captions are available.

do as you wish
I had nothing to lose as I am in Russia and I ain't getting to see the release until it gets released on Youtube. I will rewatch it then to hear the voice acting.

Otherwise, the quality is not that good but decent enough, just don't watch fullscreen. There WILL be watermarks and they are annoying. Overall, it is up to you

I actually really liked the finale, it made me really emotional and I think it fulfilled the main theme of the show well.

The characters being digital copies of real people was something I saw coming, to me it felt like the natural conclusion, especially after they resolved to stop trying to leave the circus.

Jax's story was heartbreaking, both because of what happened to them and what they did, on top of what is strongly implied.

Caine's return was surprising, but I think it was executed well. Seeing him slowly becoming genuine friends with the others was adorable.

My only real gripe was Jax's abstraction. I can't really put it into words but it left a bad taste in my mouth for it to have happened so soon into the episode, but what happened next may have made up for it, I believe.

Overall, I'd give this episode an 8.5/10 and the show as a whole a 9/10.

So would Caine get some form of High-Godly regen/resurrection? I'm honestly not sure if his code was truly deleted last ep, though it does seem that way.
Also he's explicitly needed after that, seemingly on an equal footing with the rest of the cast.
My interpretation, based on this episode and the last, is that they theoretically have access to all of Caine's powers, but since it doesn't come naturally to them they may not have the mental capacity to do everything he could in practice.

They managed to recreate the circus and bring it to life completely; when Caine arrived, everything was repaired and the moon was alive again

Just saw the full episode myself, and...
I thought it was a rather sad episode. The fact that we got to see Jax's backstory, the fact that he believed that he ended up killing someone which led to him running away, really makes me feel for him. On the other hand, Caine suddenly being alive after having his code deleted is a surprise (High-Godly Regeneration?), but at least I'm happy that he finally gets to redeem himself in the end, even going on to show the real names of all of the circus members, and ultimately, he would end up letting them have control of the circus so they could do all the things they've wanted to do. They ultimately never end up leaving the circus, but they did end up befriending Caine at last.

If I had one complaint about the episode, it's that I felt like Jax's abstraction felt kinda too early, as I thought it would be something that would happen later.

Overall, it was a good episode. Certainly something we never expected, but it turned out good. That said, with Caine having a High-Godly Regeneration feat, I wonder how this affects all of his other matches. Like, Tenna for sure literally has no way to beat Caine now, Monika can't delete Caine for good, and Alastor is even more f*cked, but at least nothing would really change for his matchup against Four since the latter already has ways around his immortality.
