Nope. It would apply to a vast amount of trainers as well, since many of them have significant differences across mediums. Some regular Pokémon scale different between different mediums, too.
And yeah, I did read the canon Blog. Though they are interesting reads, it pretty much boils down to “everything is designed to not be totally out of place and to look cohesive”, which is NOT grounds for all of the universes to scale to each other.
Like, of course they’re designed with a lot of the same things in mind, that’s how you develop a consistent franchise. That is not precedent for battleboarding to equalise the verses, though. I think every single big media franchise does the same thing: trying to keep world recognizable and familiar even in different canons.
