    I don't see particular reason, the dragonborn couldn't win. Galeem doesn't seem all that more powerful than Alduin, who the dragonborn could kill just by hitting him a whole lot.

    Problem is, B knows A is immune to possession. And it would go against the themes of the story for A to defeat B with brute strength

    The character has the ability to consume souls which he keeps inside of him and can summon as undead familiars. He can also... "digest" these souls, destroying them and adding their strength to his own.
