How do we treat spaces or dimensions that serve as "shortcuts" trough space, like for example the hyperspace of star wars? Do they automatically get HDE?

No, as explained on the Higher Dimensional Existence page, a dimension must have a qualitative difference (Qualitative Superiority) to be considered a higher dimension.

Its not enough by itself , but if there are any statements of 3d beings or any being not being able to survive without protection, or any dimension hierarchy implied than it would be HDE.
