Fan Sequel Scaling

Lets say there's a fan AU that continues off where an official story ended, when scaling that fan continuation on the site can we apply the scaling of the previous work for it, or must we only use the fan sequel's scaling?

For example, Dragon Ball AF is a fan sequel to GT, can we use GT's scaling such as the 2-C statistics for AF, or can we only use AF's feats only?

So long as it doesn't contradict anything in official canon. Any differences or retro active continuity changes should also be noted if and when they are applicable.
