Leaf Man opens with amping his speed, effectively covering his body with electricity (great defensive tool), before firing sharp leaves or jumping on Steven to explode him.

If Leaf goes for the nuke Steven’s got his shields so that’s an option straight out the window. Steven probably takes experience here considering all the stuff he’s seen fighting along and being trained by the gems too. I think Steven could avoid touching the electricity with his shield and just keep throwing it.

But Leaf Man has his speed amps and could use it to get behind Steven and attack him from there. (Yes, I know a character has to be 8x faster to blitz and Leaf Man's amps are only 5x, but it would still be an issue for Steven.)

Leaf Man would use his speed amp to get behind Steven (and his shield) and try to cut him with his sharp leaf hands. Leaf Man can also just go hand-to-hand.

Then what does Steven do when he has to attack Leaf Man? The second he gets out of the bubble, Leaf Man would immediately attack him.

He has his physical strength and shield, he’s got experience fighting a variety of gems by season 5 like Jasper who is a warrior of at least a few hundred years given how old gems are
