I'm a little late but why do we just multiply by 2? They don't seem proportional to me. For normal human:

Since it disappears while rising we can lowball and say that distance was at least 1700 meters when it reached its max height,

D^2 = (v^2 / 2g)^2 + (v^2 / 4g)^2
D^2 = 5v^4 / 16g^2
V^4 = 16 * D^2 * g^2 / 5
V = sqrt(4 * D * g / sqrt(5))
Which is v ≈ 172.7215 m/s when D is 1700 meters.

E = 1,044,145.07967875 joules, Wall level

However I don't understand why cm unit was used when calculating LS instead of 0.628319 m.

Force = E / 0.628319 = 1,661,807.26618 N (Class K)

multiplied by 2 because the characters are still usually flying headed upwards by the time they disappear and usually aren't arcing down at the apex of the height they'd reach when they disappear.

this doesn't change the result so it doesn't really matter either way

Yeah, but we should use actual distance rather than just horizontal displacement as it moved upwards as well. If the character disappears until reaching a point(max height), we can assume that character disappeared there. He could've disappeared earlier, yes, but we can't claim that it's exactly 2 times less than horizontal range from nowhere.
