(I'm pretty sure at this point, honestly, as long as the participants/combatants are near equal in stats, powers and abilities, attacking from outside line of sight which is basically ambushing would more often than not be a win factor/condition, especially since there are a LOT of lethal ways to defeat a being through ambushing them, whether the ambusher is armed or unarmed.
That being said, also depends on how experienced and aware of their environment the participants/combatants are, since if they are highly experienced and aware they could thwart ambushes and force face-to-face/head-to-head fights and possibly win as well.)
