My Hero Academia General Discussion Thread #18

This should just mean shigaraki has the means to ignore that.. that doesnt really disprove it and its extremely believable he has the means to bypass it when he's literally the second strongest in the series + he has minor adaptability against certain problematic quirks and a giant arsenal so is it really hard to say shigaraki is simply the exception when it comes to that?
yeah because you have no example of it doing what you say it should be doing
I never said there was definitive proof Deku has dura neg, but it's 100% possible just from understanding the implications of ignoring inertia, and there's also not really any counter evidence.
if it was dura neg, shigaraki's torso would've been gone entirely

You could say Shigaraki can ignore it, but how? That's stepping into headcanon because I don't think there's anything to suggest Shigaraki can ignore invulnerability except with Decay.

Ehh I wouldn't really say its exactly head canon it's more like a theoretical guess based off information in the story but once again its extremely possible. Now if anyone else that isn't shiggy could also significantly damage him during gearshift then I would agree that my interpretation is likely wrong but since its literally only shiggy aka the guy who can literally blitz and one shot anyone itv that isn't deku still makes it decently believable given the implication of ignoring the laws of inertia and tomura shigaraki's power and place in the verses hierarchy

I mean.... sure. Personally I think it's a bit of a reach, but it's not entirely ridiculous. Just needs a little more believability, which you could possibly find with further research.

well technically by ignoring inertia deku is essentially not abiding by the entire law of motion as the other two laws of motion literally require inertia to be in play for the law of motion to work out so by deku ignoring the laws of inertia he's by proxy not abiding by the entire law of motion

now im not saying this means he has immeasurable or infinite speed or smth but its the byproducts of what comes with not abiding by the laws of motion

Imagine this:

Deku when gearshift is active, isn't abiding by the laws of motion so therefore his molecules would be perfectly still and wouldn't move at all since they don't abide by the law of motion they would be perfectly and utterly still and couldn't be moved

Now let me put this into a hypothetical scenario

Lets say izuku's durability is set to average human level and his piercing dura is absolute trash. Someone fires a gun at him (and lets say he doesn't dodge but decides to tank it) the bullet would try to enter izuku's body but that would require the molecules/atoms inside izuku's body to move and part for the bullet to enter his body but since izuku's molecules/atoms dont abide by the laws of motion they wouldn't part at all for the bullet. So in turn the bullet literally squishes itself into a coin in shape while colliding against izuku's immovable body and then it would fall to the ground

basically invulnerability (ofc dura negs still work just as long as they dont require the law of motion to be present and working)
Deku only ignores intertia when switching gears. It’s not something that’s passively in effect when gearshift is active. It only allows him to instantly shift speeds between gears. This is a reach

Deku after punching Butcher once without OFA

hero audit

what hax does bro have besides decay and regen:sleep:
Soul manip, type 2 immortality, extra sensory perception, reactive evolution, fear inducement, power bestowal and possession. Arguably multiple selves counts as well.
Shit couldn’t adapt to Deku punches 🥹✌️
That’s cos he’s the GOAT

Seriously though, how tf you supposed to adapt to a punch? That’s like adapting to the concept of kinetic energy itself, considering that OFA is merely a strength enhancer. Big Raga has crazy reactive evolution, and even he takes time to adapt to powerful enough shit. I guess you could bring up that he didn’t get his defensive form against Deku, but that was cos he didn’t need it once he had access to hyper regen. The only things proven to be able to put him down for good were one shots, which practically by definition can’t be adapted to.
Too bad Tomura uses **** all of his Quirks besides a handful of them.
Tbf he doesn’t really have much reason to use most of them. Decay is so OP that it kinda makes much of his quirks redundant, and the ones we see AFO use whilst in his body (such as the big tentacles) are relatively featless and struggle with Mina, Fatgum and Kirishima - all of whom are currently worn out and tired from prolonged battle. Impure beam is also heavily telegraphed, making it easy for Deku to strike him whilst using it.

2 - Force the fight into space. He can survive in a vacuum, Deku can't plus it makes Gearshift useless and the hypoxia even worse.
Makes gearshift useless😭??

Son, gearshift is the MAIN REASON for why Deku would even survive if he found himself in space somehow.

I think the reasoning is that Gearshift already makes him run out of oxygen when being used. But it still doesn’t change the fact that Deku is not just gonna let Shigaraki go all the way to space, nor is he just gonna let himself be thrown into space when Float or Gearshift should allow him to stop himself before leaving the atmosphere. And as I’ve said before, it would remove the personal element of the fight in Tomura’s eyes if he just bombarded him from orbit and Deku wasn’t able to see Tomura’s destruction and/or his decay. Plus, Shigaraki specifically wants to decay the world (“otherwise what’s the point of these hands?”) so it wouldn’t really fit his style to use impersonal ranged quirks to destroy the planet from space.

So the oxygen problem is his only problem, which means that he'll have to be back on Earth before the timer runs out.

I agree with your statements. However, what I'm trying to say is that he shouldn't have said that gearshift is useless in space, because that's actually gonna be the most useful quirk in space for him (fa jin and blackwhip can also be useful, but not as much as Gearshift). All the other quirks are rather almost useless for him, even OFA itself.

Well, theoretically, he should have it with the GS. Deku can completely control the cells in his body and the targets he touches. If he touches his enemy and makes it immobile, all of its cells should stop, which would cause things like internal heart failure. Also oxygen.
