The Amazing Digital Circus General Discussion Thread [Spoilers]

I won't debate anything, but I will say our tastes are opposite. (been hoping he abstracted since ep 1.)I won't say anything other than that Jax is my goat, so leave him alone

I watched the movie yesterday. I have similar attitudes to it as to SvtFoE. It’s not great, it is fairly good and I can see the intent and message behind it, but it really huge flaws. When I originally watched it I thought it was peak, but after thinking about it problems are too much to ignore.
First of all wth was that Jax abstraction. I know that the message is that suic*de is one day man is here, another one he is not. But we were literally building it up for three episodes.
Secondly, message about “he chose to not be saved” and “we should be all together” gets undermined by the fact that he DID start talking to Pomni but then backed down and Pomni literally had no reaction. She is supposed to be leader uniting everyone, she is supposed to know Jax the best, she reads him like a book in ep 6, but here she just… walks away? What? It also makes the fault partially on her for failing to be a good leader. Especially since everyone else already got united. I’d get it if it was when they were all broken, but she literally got things and other members going well.
Also, contrast between Jax and Caine kills me. Honestly, I’m one of those who like Caine’s redemption despite it being rushed. But Caine was objectively worse. He tortured cast for a week, lied to everyone, does not have psychological problems unlike Jax for most of the time, and indirectly led to many abstractions. Caine getting a redemption while Jax is punished makes no sense.
Even without contrast to Caine, hints of him being able to change and doing so slowly only for him to freaking die is so stupid and unsatisfying. Also, did they genuinely put him on a leash and basically turn him into a big circus pet? This is probably as humiliating disrespect to a human being as it can get. Especially since there IS a fully sentient human inside, which I will elaborate on later.
Jax’s death can also send a really bad message. After Pomni leaves his mind, we are shown how happy everyone was. Regardless of whether you like Jax or not, there are tons of people who sympathize with him and genuinely related to him. The ending can easily be interpreted as “see, suic*dal jerk with issues finally kys, and everyone got happier”, and “everything would be better if I was not there” is a common suic*dal thought. So yeah, not a good picture.
And lastly, how the heck does abstraction work. I thought abstraction was mind totally breaking down, a person going fully insane and all that. Caine logically would be unable to fix that since it’s too much of a destruction of mind and even if he could theoretically, he wouldn’t practically since he screwed up Scratch’s mind for whatever reason (likely trying to fix tumor). But it’s revealed that the memories are totally fine and there is actual conscious human inside? It’s just on outside it’s a beast but he’s fully sentient and aware inside? What? Why can’t Caine just reset the body or drag out those mind files and create a new body for it? Genuinely makes no sense.
So, yeah.

I mean, Kinger did say in Episode 8 that they have the same conjuring powers as Caine but can't do a lot of them due to their inexperience. Also, the fact that they are within digital bodies that are unable to die pretty much means that they should be able to scale to each other in regeneration and immortality.

I mean, from what I understand, he regenned because he got thrown into trash bin which is the void, and he can return from there. So it’s kind of Regen but also self-BFR.

Fortnite emote is for them to summon an abstraction that circles around them and then makes them glitch out. Obviously we don't use Fortnite scaling but wonder if we could put that as a potential summon? Though IDK if an abstraction's glitching would work on someone whose physiology worked different.

& while it has already been in the finale, there will still be people who haven't seen it in theaters, nor otherwise.
So I recommend talking about it in spoilers. Give it at least until the end of the weekend, if not a whole 7 days, I'd say.
Of course, though I am a Thread Moderator, people are free to discuss how they like, so you don't have to heed that.
Though it may also be worthwhile to have a pause on new CRTs for a while because the finale is almost certainly going to mean a bunch of revolutionary revelations reaching the fandom. Even knowing the show's focus was character drama, kind of underwhelming for me, personally. Closure for a fair bit of stuff, I guess.
Stuff that might be powerscaling relevant:
The brain scan files are "impossibly small" for what they were supposed to be, apparently, according to Kinger.
I guess Pomni can manipulate the circus now, like Kinger does, though she's less experienced/skilled?
Jax gets an Abstracted key, apparently?
The Abstracted are soothed by darkness.
Either there was some "Emotions correspo0nd to effective pain ailment status inflicted", or Pomni has pain tolerance. Maybe it's related to how intense the contact was? Pomni embraced an Abstracted, Ragatha was slammed into a wall by one.
By making contact with an abstracted, possibly in the dark, or seeking to connect with them or having a connection with them, you can get put into an Immersion-like effect that lets you go into the Abstracted's mind?
Zooble can operate a chain made of multiple of Zooble's arms.
Caine told them he'd give them more control of the circus, though it seems to be just structural?
Caine gets a wall-impression-making feat thanks to the baseball scene.
IDK if the toony stuff in abstracted Jax's mind counts for anything.
The cast are confirmed to be brain scans. Them being tech files in a simulation, IDK if they can achieve what their in-universe-IRL basises can achieve; Might matter for Intelligence/Skill/Behaviour.
The moon was not programmed to love Caine.
Caine was somehow around after being deleted? Is The Void akin to a recycle bin? Did he have a file backup of himself or something?
Speaking of, Caine seems to have some sort of technology manipulation or something, to get through barriers?
There's also some kind of issue with his powers near the edges of The Void; He mentioned even he doesn't know what's out there, & we see it can knock him out of flight, & subject his constructs to gravity, but he somehow made some that could ignore it along symbolism of the red dot representing his AI becoming more humanoid? So, what, does it just limit only non-human-brainscan entities in terms of what they can do? How did he overcome the barriers?

I liked the show more when it was wacky. Oh well. Was good while it lasted.

The premise doesn't justify the conclusion, we do not know the distance crossed between the mirror and the hole, or if that distance wouldn't be enough to tire him out.

Either way, yeah, still as good as I remember. The character writing is masterful, and Caine's actual data becoming progressively more human as he ascends is briliant visual story telling.
