The Amazing Digital Circus General Discussion Thread [Spoilers]

We should probably calculate Caine's flight speed in the last episode.

He was floating away from the Circus for days, and flew back in a couple seconds
 
I’ve literally tanked all possible spoilers yet couldn't even remember any of them after/while watching, they have nothing on me! 😛

Hottest take like the Sun core :
Either way, I really felt the episode being rushed with overdone emotional moments taking 3/4 of the episode with the slowed pacing I've ever seen...

Characters like Jax the goatty goat who didn't unabstracted which let the relations being unfix (at least the one with Pomni was done)...


The relation with Caine getting better was really done fast and rushed unlike Pomni/Jax which was far better not gonna lie, some episodes where Caine going agaisn't circus casts just for it being fixed in few minutes doesn't just felt right imo...

And I guess many unanswered questions was let there, but I guess the theories are made for that - 6/10 sadly
 
After watching the episode in the cinema, and watching it twice via reaction videos to see other people's reactions, I think I can give a concrete opinion on the final episode.

As strange as it may seem, even though it's almost an hour long, the final episode felt rushed and dry. In some moments this makes sense, like at the beginning with the revelation of the scans and Jax's abstraction, but in other parts, such as Caine's redemption and the characters' interactions after Jax's abstraction and before Cain's arrival, it really could have been better with more time. In addition, there were some confusing scenes and a lack of explanations, which didn't bother me too much because a more open ending is interesting and opens doors to one of the things that most popularized the show, namely theories. But considering the number of things left open in the background, it can be annoying (and it was).

For me, Jax's ending was very good. It's impossible to talk about this episode without talking about Jax; half or more of the episode is about him, and what each person thought of this ending, whether they liked the character or not, can significantly change their opinion about the final episode. I thought it was very good that it was emphasized that even as a victim, Jax is also an aggressor, and that for me, his ending is not just punishment, but the result of his entire journey.

Regarding him being trans, I would have preferred fragile masculinity; I think it would make a lot of sense with what was built up, but it could be both, there were already indications that he might be trans, with some things throughout the series, so meh. And I'm saying "he" because, if I'm not falling for fake news, Gooseworx herself said that the pronouns used don't matter, and he is referred to as "he" throughout the series.

Caine's redemption was quick, and even a bit cliché, but visually stunning and emblematic, with the parallel between him creating the circus and accessing the internet being very good (although difficult to grasp at first, a flashback within a flashback).

Speaking of visuals and jokes, simply incredible, there's not much to say, these two points have always been good in the series, and they haven't fallen now.

It's definitely not a perfect ending, but it gave me the feeling of smiling involuntarily watching it both in the cinema and at home. A similar feeling to what I had watching the end of Murder Drones, although this time it's much easier to defend the ending, and it was much better executed.

For me, it was a good 8/10 😅👍

Another indie series ends, this time the first one I followed from the first episode in 2023...wow...

I honestly felt a lot more satisfied with this ending than I did with Murder Drones. And the people who were trying to go all Stranger Things thinking this was a fake ending were a bit silly
 
Honestly impressive that Caine still has some relativistic arguments

BTW, do you guys suppose abstraction is truly permanent or that there is some way post-finale that it may eventually be reversed? it wouldn't really have any relevance in a "To The Death" scenario since obviously we just would count the moment of abstraction as the loss, but still.

Pretty sure that Caine was about to unabstract Jax but got stopped by Pomni

Definitely permanent. It's part of the theme of tragedy, and how irreversible it is. If it was reversible, Goose might as well had them leave the circus

Well, Caine had no interest to unabstract them before his redemption (assuming he can) considering they would have fallen back to it and especially since at some extend Caine was a part of the reasons most of them abstracted, but I still wonder in what way Caine would've helped.

Also Kinger had his bucket off most of the end so I think he just forgot or smth but either way, the help was meant to be after the episode, so we will surely never know.

The aquarium tank is dark and Kinger visits regularly. If he didn't ask for an unabstraction, it's not possible.

Themes and stuff
 
Yeah it would go against the themes if abstraction could be fixed. Think you can see the whole Jax sequence as being his last moments of clarity before losing his sense of self, accepting himself in his last moments. I just like how abstractions post finale aren't treated as monsters to be locked away but as hurt people to be cared for.

I feel like people are gonna be arguing about caine stats for a while. Are we sticking to the starry skies sorta arguments?
 
Gotcha, so guess we gotta decide where we cap it. Since stars are out but were not just putting everything at 12-A or anything, maybe we can try to find an average for how big the maps get by land mass?
 
I'm ngl if the finale was supposed to make me feel bad for Jax or smth it really didn't, she's lowkey just kind of a piece of shit.
 
Yeah she is, I think that was the idea. We're supposed to understand why she is the way she is but still know what she does is bad

The screentime doesn't really matter considering we know they've always been outside and that they're regular human, so I think their AP would just scale to their existance

The screentime does matter imo, adding real world keys would just be redundant. There's nothing to scale beyond baseline human statistics, and we know nothing about how they'd fight.

I do think they're pretty important lore wise and should be comparable to their data self (they already share the same skills so)
