1/2 FINALS|DANTE SPARDA VS DOOMSLAYER

Dante and Vergil showing Taskmaster who really has all the moves. Goes berserk on him with sword, nunchaku and lots of other weapons, launches him up and juggles him, introduces him to a sword behaving like a propeller, switches out to Vergil who continues to do the same. Keeps smacking him around on the ground, in the air, and everywhere in between. Uses the final Hyper Combo intended to finish enemies off. Taskmaster's health bar reached zero a while back, but the beating just keeps going, even following up with another hypercombo where he shoots him in a steady barrage of bullets culminating in a huge double charged shot fired with a declaration of "JACKPOT!". Taskmaster is invulnerable here only so he can take even more of a beating. By the end the combo has extended up to 298 hits, and Taskmaster has lost about 200% of his health to it.

Cosplayers of the characters re-enact scenes and memes together. Fair bit of detail, actually. Two real world people and a convention impacted by the aura.

Dominating rest pose. Barely moves at the start, even as he probes Patty for information. He's actually listening to her and does sympathize, even if he acts like he doesn't care. Creepy guy comes over and sweet-talks her, and she lets him sit there. This creepy guy is obviously a demon, but tries to act innocent for Dante. Dante simply responds that he can't promise the guy will live long, startling him and Patty. They pass through a tunnel and when they come out the other side Patty is still talking, only to realize the guy's dead. Dante, still lying down, brushes it off. "Good grief. That's why I told you..."

Everyone flips out while Dante remains calm, and the train guard demands to know more. Dante describes how each person sitting on the train was during the time in the tunnel. He ultimately alludes to the presence of the demon on top of the train, and we're shown that the guy was in fact a limb of the demon, and he'd died because Dante had destroyed the demon outside the train. Note the huge volume of bullet holes in the demon, all placed into it in about ten seconds, while in a confined tunnel, after which Dante got back into his prior position, all without alerting Patty who was sitting right there or anyone else in the carriage, and this was a casual effort. Also notice how Patty was between that guy and the window, with the demon outside the window. She was literally caught with the main body and its freaky limb on either side of her. That demon was going to crush her between the two and destroy her in the tunnel. Dante not only no-sells that sleazy strategy, he turned it around on the demon and did that to it. He finishes the scene by finishing off the limb as it starts to move, and then he and Patty casually walk out. Patty is demanding answers about whether she can survive, and he simply tells her to keep going. This answer is actually him being compassionate and honest as he can be.

Lady tsundere moment. She insists it's not like she likes him or anything. Trish seems to think otherwise. I guess we can each judge for ourselves.

Lady tryna act all smug asking Dante if he's seriously asking a girl out without bringing flowers. Dante doesn't even dignify the complaint with a second thought. He just flashes that trademark smug grin (Yes, the kind that wins the conversation before it even starts) and hits her with "Since when did you start liking flowers in the first place?" +1

Hell Pride starts charging straight at Dante thinking he's about to catch him off guard. Dante doesn't even bother looking in his direction and effortlessly mogs him like he's beneath his attention. A split second later he casually welcomes the corpse after the body hits the floor. Absolute cinema. +2

A whole pack of Hell Prides starts jumping Dante thinking numbers are finally enough to take down the homeless one. Dante responds by drawing Rebellion and starts mowing them down like they're nothing but overgrown grass. He slices through the first two without missing a beat then finishes it off with a clean Leon style backflip over the third because apparently styling on demons is just part of the job.

The fourth Hell Pride sees an opening and rushes in thinking it finally caught Dante slipping. Biggest mistake of its miserable life as Dante plants Rebellion into the ground and lets the demon launch the sword into the air for him. He immediately jumps back at it grabs the poor bastard by the face and hurls him straight into the wall. Right as Rebellion comes falling back down Dante kicks it midair sending the blade clean through the demon's chest like he planned the whole sequence from the start. +6

The fallen Hell Pride then tried to sneak behind only for Dante to, again, shot him in the mouth without looking. After that he casually walks over to Lady and starts chatting like absolutely nothing happened. Just another normal conversation while demons are getting folded around him. Then he starts making his way toward the exit and absentmindedly guns down a barely moving Hell Pride on the floor without even breaking his stride. My GOAT treats demons like a walk in the park. +3

Driplord Pluto pulls up with one of the coldest entrances imaginable yet Dante couldn't give two *****. Instead of acknowledging the dramatic arrival he just looks around in disgust and complains about having to clean up the mess caused by him. Even pure aura farming attempt is reduced to janitor duty infront of him smh. +2

The Devil Hunter finally drops the human act and transforms into his true demon form. Instead of treating it like some horrifying revelation, the cameraman immediately starts circling around him like he is a celebrity. +1

Starts playing cat and mouse game with Phantom, escapes through the door and mocks his spider ass by saying the hospitality of this place is overwhelming. Don'tcha think m8? ;P +1

Phantom founds him but Dante like the smug MF he is starts trash talking to his face by calling him out as a big bug and wants to turn him into the specimen of the archive. After cooking his ass, he turned around to Lady to ask what's next while aftermath explosion happens on his back. Just another day. +4

Dante pushes the chair off? No problem! Kicked it back to the position, sits on it, puts his leg on the table, catches the falling slice of pizza casually and starts eating it nonchalantly. EZ. +2

Saves the niece from his deranged uncle. ******* him down by basically saying to fight with a real man. Charges at him. The uncle runs away on the top of the shit. Throws a metal junk at him but Dante slices it up without breaking his stride. They start clashing in the air like gravity doesn't exist. The uncle fell to his knees while Dante stood there unfazed. +5

Driplord Pluto shows his real face in the drippiest way possible. Dante is unfazed, Laughs it off and says he looks like a cockroach. Not even Demon Lords is immune to bro's troll. +2

Lets himself be stabbed, came out of it like it's a scratch, transforms into his Demon state and starts dancing around Pluto's attacks. He fires at Pluto, Pluto blocks it, he then pulled a second pistol, breaks his shield and then mogs him by claiming his drilling skills are impressive. Bro was NOT taking him serious at all. +4

Gets to know Brad over a drink, listens to him. Gets his pizza just as Brad leaves. A huge demon leans out of the wall of the alley to speak to Brad. Brad suggests this demon is responsible for a recent string of murders, which this demon all-but confirms. As it expresses its love for killing people, it gets a plate smashed on its face, and demands to know who threw it. All attention turns to Dante as he enters with the OST changing to match, revealing he ate that large pizza in five minutes. This despite it having olives which he doesn't like. Demon reaches through the wall and out of another one, grabbing Dante. He calmly dismisses this as "some handshake" and shoots the arm apart, dodging another punch with zero apparent effort, and shoots it some more, forcing it to retreat. Brad remarks on Dante's strength, and how he's heard all about him. Brad's dialogue makes it clear he's a very young demon, as he has heard of Dante being a hybrid but apparently knows little of Sparda. That's right, Sparda is THE legend of the underworld, but for the younger demons Dante is already more well-known than him.

Brad asks Dante about his perception on love, which Dante expresses a multi-layered answer to, suggesting lovers are often twisted, which Brad objects to, only for Dante to clarify that he does believe love is still a real thing. This conversation is a thinly disguised discussion of humanity, as well as an interview; Dante is interviewing Brad without Brad really knowing it, and Brad is interviewing Dante about humanity. At the end, Dante starts to pull the trigger, and Brad waits for death, but when the gunshot sounds. we're shown that Brad is unharmed, and he see Dante has aimed upwards, and the demon was coming down from above to launch another attack. The demon has the bullet in its head, and drops like a stone, dead. Dante not only timed the action for when the demon was coming, which would be virtually impossible, he made this impossible prediction solely to show aura, and to see how Brad would respond.

Remember how this was an interview? Brad passed, Dante passed and then some, the demon failed.

Giant demon summoning. Butler talks about Belphegor destroying the world. Brad earlier alluded to Belphegor devouring the entire city. It's called Capulet City, which her father is the mayor of (yes, that's a blatant Romeo and Juliet reference; Capulet is Juliet's family name). Dante crashes the party, blasting through the huge door (notice how thick and heavy the door is), then pushes it off its hinges and simply says he knocked too hard as the battle theme starts playing. Note he also shot through only one door so as to miss Angelina entirely, but also knocked the butler's knife out of his hand, extreme accuracy even with a door between them. While Dante distracts the butler and demon, Brad breaks in through a window and saves Angelina. The butler tries to deliver another monologue and Dante shuts him up with a casual kick. Dante holds back on purpose here because he doesn't want to risk hurting Brad or Angelina (yes, this most likely is a celebrity reference). Casually evades a huge hand and jumps away, hanging from the roof by grabbing the chandelier. Hangs there with his huge pistol in his teeth, a likely Hellsing reference.

Huge demon emerges with tentacles and a huge mouth full of several layers of teeth, with some individual fangs being as long as his forearm. Dante casually quips about how its long trip is for nothing because this world is off-limits for it. He slashes through its tentacles and stabs into it, literally shoving this huge monster back through the portal and stopping the summoning. This huge demon literally just had the door slammed in its face and suffered some injuries in the process. That's how demonic lords (I suspect this might be one of the four great demons vying for power, actually) are treated by Dante. Pushed down like washing a cockroach down the drain. Ends the scene telling the mayor that he won't kill Brad, talking like the true authority over the mayor in his own city about what makes one a demon or a human. This guy not only just spoke as the authority on whether Brad is human or not, he just told the mayor what was what in his own city, right after telling a demon lord who planned to eat that city to drop back down the drain.

Lady's introduction in the anime. She has investigated this demon's killings, poses as a potential victim and leads him to his own murder location, gets him to attack her and makes him her doormat. Blasts huge holes in him and utterly destroys him, all while looking like a gorgeous femme fatale with a tomboyish twist. She gets approached by government authorities and is quite abrupt with them, telling them to get to the point about her job. This deadly lady needs to get Dante to do that job.

Just to bring this up now.

I think using combo videos and non-canon memes is kinda silly and shouldn't be counted. (Latter prob won't be counted anyway)

There's probably a huge back and forth around the combo videos I'd want to avoid (style meter, that being dante's arsenal), but if you can link someone good at a game playing Dante with long combos for aura, the opposite applies, no?
I can boot up DMC 5, record it, play like an IGN reviewer and post it here for negative aura.
Both sides are ofc, stupid, because your personal gameplay doesn't impact the character and their story. (Things like beating DMC V's first boss and skipping the whole of the story are fine, it's a genuine possibility acknowledged by the game, you just have to be skilled enough to reach it)

I think combo videos set a bad precedent, then Doomslayer could go through every game with every arena beaten and post it one-by-one for aura, because it's an expression of skill, much like Dante's combos. Glory kills are fine, they're scripted segments ofc.

The combos are okay because it's a core feature of the gameplay, if you ask me. It's not about dodging damage or finishing levels. It's about the ability to switch rapidly between weapons and make combos with them, and the ability to dodge incoming things.

The cosplay and memes are a measure of their cultural impact, which is the real thing being shown there.

Dante and his brother, clashing their swords so fast it, obliterating every rain drop that it creates a perfectly shaped open space in a rainstorm. Raindrops so slow compared to them as to seem frozen in the air. Close up shot of his sword cutting through just one single raindrop, meaning he's slashing those raindrops one at a time.

Dante is attacked, prompting him to toss his sword in the air, making it spin to cut the Demons.

Casually smashes a big stone pillar with a delayed shockwave. Jumps off a roof and runs down the side of the tower, dodging incoming demons and shooting them while jumping back and forth. He spins in the air while shooting, then is shown shooting in opposite directions and still hitting his targets. Jumps up and briefly poses with the guns crossed over each other, still shooting. Jumps over a demon and lands on another one, jumps to another, then another. Launches himself back up using one demon as a platform. Gets enveloped by multiple demons, and casually spins with his sword and guns, shooting and slashing his way out. Keeps spinning, a dervish of death and style, his sword also projecting shock waves in the air. Flings his sword through a group of demons and shoots the pommel to launch it through. The sword speeds up and superheats from the speed it's moving at. He runs after it, moving faster than the sword, his hand heating up the same way until he catches up to it and grabs it. He leaps off the tower side several metres into the open air, and a huge creature eats him. Long story short, he survives this, the giant creature that just ate him doesn't.

Snatches a motorcycle with his nunchaku, extended into a long chain. He catches it and saves it as it falls, and hops on. He guns the jet-style engine and rides it straight up the tower. Jumps to dodge falling pieces of stone, one after another. Briefly keeps riding up the vertical surface on only the front wheel, then keeps going up as normal. An enormous piece of the tower falls down towards him, and he jumps up and rides up the side of the falling rubble, now literally riding not only vertically, but diagonally upwards, partially upside down. The rubble falls further and the angle gets harsher as it does, and he keeps going easily. Reaches the top and does a backfilp as he clears the rubble, now aiming the bike through a doorway. A group of demons jumps up at him to stop while they think he's vulnerable, and he sees this and smirks. He hops off the bike and revs it to swing it as a weapon, and with this first swing he hits the first two demons hard enough to destroy them outright. Swings downward and destroys the next demon with that overhead strike. Smacks another demon away with his hand and then swings the bike down at it, smacking it down as well. He reaches the next demon and rounds up like a batter, swinging the bike at it. He then stands briefly in the air with the bike held behind his back like any old weapon as he smirks down at more demons jumping up at him. Delivers a string of heavy swings with the bike in rapid succession, then hops back on the bike and keeps swirling in the air in loops to land more hits. Spins and swings the bike down to swat a demon like a bug, then swings back again and smashes two others. Does a midair somersault and swings the bike downwards. This strike smacks the remaining demons and reduces them to dust. He finally lands on the courtyard he was aiming for and poses with the bike held behind him. The bike explodes right there with him holding it, literally pressed into his back, right next to his heart and neck, and he doesn't even flinch.

Makes an entrance with lots of aura, saves the assembled party from the demon among them by slashing that demon and casually leaning against a wall, staying close to Patty just in case, as well as demonstrating that he's on her side, no-one else's. Mad uncle energy there. We know he didn't shoot the demon because there's no gunshot. He's seen telling the woman who's currently paying him what he thinks of her. Tells her how rotten she is and how he'd kill her if she was a demon. Note the restraint here. He holds himself accountable for his actions like an honourable knight.

Proceeds to massacre this demon while the battle theme plays, and deliberately make a big, messy show of it, forcing this wealthy woman to dodge a big, severed demon arm that almost lands on her as she screams. Juggles the demon with his guns then stabs it into the roof with his sword hard enough to blow a hole in the roof of the expensive mansion. The demon dies and he makes a point of carving it up so as to make a mess of this expensive mansion and cover the two rich guys and their expensive artworks in demon blood. Scene ends with an awesome pose with his sword, then the camera cuts to reveal he also has his gun in his teeth at the same time, literally two awesome poses at once with two different and separate weapons. The sunset gleam on his eyes further plays up the demonic aura, but the fact the gleam is gold rather than red sets him apart from the monsters; he's a man of honour. A knight, not a beast. He walks out, sheathing his sword, with Patty following him. The clip doesn't show it, but his roasting of the woman had a positive effect. She reappears and wants to help Patty. This is why Patty seems well off for the rest of the show; this woman paid her handsomely for her suffering.

Senses a demon coming, and pulls Patty's hat down to cover her eyes while drawing his gun. Knows where it is and what to do already. A demon rears out of the truck and immediately gets shot multiple times, while Dante raises his gun upwards in a triumphant pose. All this happened faster than Patty could lift her hat back up, and he ignores her as she rants at him, swerving the car to the other side of the truck and aiming with unbelievable accuracy between the truck and the wall so that the dead demon will fall on the road instead of them. Patty hilariously rants at him as the demon falls dead on the ground far behind them without her ever even noticing it. Dante's fancy red car is shown zooming into the distance as the demon lands on the road in a sorry heap left behind on the road. A demon assassin reduced to roadkill faster than Patty could lift her hat, and Dante even dodged the roadkill as it fell even though that meant driving between the other lane and a wall.

A swarm of demons appear outside the window, and the guys are all preparing to fight. Guy goes to turn off the music and Dante tells him to keep the soundtrack playing for the fight, or the party as he calls it. That's right, this fight is a party to him. Other guys try shooting but seem to hit nothing, while Dante blasts the demons apart with his shots. He stands with his guns facing opposite directions and shoots, not even looking but still hitting these small, fast-moving targets. The shots take the things down easily.

We see two guys shooting at a couple of demons and whether they're hitting or not, the demons don't care. Then Dante starts shooting and the demons are now best referred to as puddles. He then runs easily between these falling messes and keeps shooting while easily avoiding the falling debris. Whole bunch of them latch onto him with teeth like those of lamprey, and he blasts them all apart and emerges without a scratch. The head demon emits screams that literally blow the other guys back, and those sound waves repeatedly hit Dante but seems to have no effect. She releases a final blast which Dante casually avoids with a backflip.

Players her own music to lure her out. Notice she's got a demon version of herself whispering in her ear, essentially controlling her. When she appears Dante calls his sword over from where he left it, just because. The demon circles around to find a weak point, but there isn't one. He blocks her claws and shoves her back casually. She blasts out sound waves that seem to pass right through him without harming him in any way.

Dante ultimately throws his sword through the demon, and we're briefly led to believe the woman is dead as the human form of Elena falls onto the floor. The record that has been playing stops climactically at this moment. We are shown a panning shot of Elena and are shown that she is somehow unharmed. Then the camera cuts to the demon, which was literally her, sharing the same body, now impaled through the neck with Dante's sword, with the sword stabbed through the neck and into the wall behind her. These two beings were sharing a body, and Dante managed to put his sword through that body and only hit the one he wanted to hit while the other remains unharmed.

Dante walks out to let the two lovers reunite. Later scenes not shown in the clip show Elena having ditched the rockstar thing and married this guy.

Dante flying a WWII Japanese biplane. Yes, this plane was most likely the plane of a Japanese pilot who went down sometimes around WWII and likely got taken out by demons while attempting to repair the plane. The plane was supposed to too damaged to fly when Dante flew it. He not only flew this plane that dates back that far and was supposedly too damaged to fly, he also learned to fly it right there on the spot, fast enough to get out ahead of an explosion. He then flew it all the way home.

Dante standing between Isaac and a demon. Isaaac was foolish enough to take an item from Sid which summons these demons. Dante is saving him, destroying the item and warning him not to trust freaky things like that.

Dante beat this demon in a game of mid-combat one card draw, drawing the ace of spades while it drew the king of hearts. This demon previously made two poker players simultaneously draw royal straight flushes. Even one player drawing that hand is an outcome that has odds of 1 in 649,740, or 0.000154%. From what I can tell both players drawing it is so astronomically low that it's never happened in recorded history. Note the cards they drew are symbolic. The demon is called king and controls hearts of others (her husband, people's greed), and meanwhile the ace of spades is the highest card in the game. Message is clear: Dante's the top card. The best.

Just to clarify, PoC is allowed and will be counted.
Peak of Mid

It's insanely funny that some games and fictions (cough cough Netflix and remake) representations of Dante are legitimately so bad you're not allowed to use them as antifeats in this tournament.
So, if we wanna talk about how 'iconic' Dante is:

Peak of Combat is so disliked by its own fans and so under the radar that its projected (all figures are not 100% reliable but the best source is gacharevenue, see breakdowns) revenue is 110k a month, compared to other gacha games like Hi3 (1.18M this month), HSR (28M this month), Nikke (13M this month) and Cookie Run Kingdom (2M this month). Even GGZ, a game only available in China and Japan after getting its NA and EU servers shut down is earning more than peak of combat. (201K this month). A random Nekopara mobile game I've never heard of is making as much as Peak of Combat. (120K this month)

DMC fans talking about how 'iconic' their series / Dante is while
1. Getting beaten in revenue by: A cookie game, GGZ which is only overseas and incredibly small and a Nekopara mobile game.
2. They're only getting remakes (recent DMC 5 remake for switch) - The most recent release before this was the 2024 release of Peak of Combat and before that was DMC 2020. Capcom forgot about DMC. Best of luck for DMC 6. (I'd like it too, tbf, it's a good franchise, but Resident Evil has yall downed.)

Lets continue to discuss memes and cosplays, but Devil May Cry hasn't gotten a solid new entry in 6 years and its mobile game is being overshadowed, let's not discuss the DMC series being iconic, it can only end badly. DMC isn't even the most iconic of Capcom's releases, the Resident Evil series is right there.

Do I have to mention the reception of Devil May Cry 2, The Remake, the Netflix show (These two aren't allowed to be mentioned because they're that bad) and Devil May Cry 4?

Urizen, literally half of Vergil, farms 'the supposed goat' Dante, stopping Dante easily and then beating him with a single blocked punch. The punch was blocked by his sword, and Dante's still totally beaten by it. The sword also shatters.

Dante even calls Nero dead weight ALL game. Nero then aurafarms Dante and bitchslaps him. He even remarks that Dante is the dead weight. Dante even remarks the bitchslap almost killed him.
Dante eats his words (calling Nero dead weight constantly) the same way he eats his pizza. A whole massive portion (of revenge, for Nero) at a time.

(Yes, this is legitimately what's in frame for that shot. Look how ugly Dante looks right here.)

Nice pose aiming a gun through two huge fancy double doors. This is the front cover of the first game, the world's first official introduction to Dante and DMC, and the game style that would become the character action genre.

Another awesome pose. Between the aura of the coat that screams nobility and awesomeness while billowing like a hero's cape, the fine gold trim of the guns, the tall and confident stance of the man himself, and the big sword he's not even using yet because he doesn't need to, this oicture is of a man who brings the fight to the demons of hell.

And another. Awesome pose with huge legendary sword. The gold inlay on the guard and the gems from the Perfect Amulet, wrapped in sharp organic matter to form the combination of three unique legendary items joined together via a special wielder, all together they form the original legendary blade. Before the Blade of Olympus, before the Crucible, there was the Sparda.

Pose with gauntlets and boots, ready to do amazing martial arts with metal chainsaw hands and feet and a cool mask.

Major glaze from a cover.

Vergil makes a big entrance. A huge pillar of light erupts, accompanied by falling shards of what appears to be glass but is actually spatial fabric falling down all over the place, like he broke the world itself in his entrance. Images of the previous battleground can be seen on the shards, all to serve as setpieces for Vergil's entrance. Again, this is Dante's rival, his twin brother.

More Vergil aura, releasing a huge barrage of spatial slashes that fills a whole area. This whole scene is aura, just a barrage of slashes in space that destroy anything inside. All durability negging, all brutal.

Nero showing off his own awesome aura. Dante rescues him from Urizen a little after this.

Mundus receives major glaze from the back cover, referred to as all-powerful twice in one paragraph. This is the guy Dante fought and beat at the end of DMC1, the event that truly cemented Dante's legendary status in his world.

Lady, the tsundere who totally doesn't like him or anything, looking great as usual.

DMC1 opening cutscene. Sparda receives legendary glaze from the narrator, describing a legend from 2000 years ago of the demon who faced the entire underworld and won, while Sparda stands against a fiery background and swings his huge sword around in crazy over-the-top fashion. We then cut to the alleyway. Trish makes two big entrances in one scene; once when she dives in from far away seeming to come from the moon and lands in a superhero landing, and then again when she smashes into the store on a stolen motorcycle. Dante sees this and acts like it's a joke, calmly telling her to slow down. Trish attacks him, shocking him and then impaling him, then blasting him with lightning through his chest, spine and heart. She flings the bike at him and he stops it with his literal aura, then fires at it until it shoots back at her, forcing her to dodge.

He gets up and stands over her with the sword still sticking out of him. This scene deserves a special note: Regeneration or not, it shouldn't be physically possible for him to walk with that sword lodged in his spine. The spine carries the signals needed to walk. He's walking while his brain is basically disconnected from his legs, and this is after the electrocution that should have done even more damage to his brain and nervous system.

Dante and Nero sitting on a nice couch in poses that exude confidence.

Dante fights the wish demon. Casually blocks acid with his chair, unflinching as it dissolves. Throws the remains at the demon. The demon goes through the glass by dissolving it. Glass is highly resistant to acid. Nice shootout scene with superhuman movements. The demon's acid burst melts through a building, causing the whole building to come down. Dante stands over the demon and matches its trolling behaviour back at it. The demon emerges from under the structure and envelops Dante to try to dissolve him. In this scene we've seen this acid melt through glass instantly and melt concrete in large volume just as quickly. If anything the acid inside it should be even more potent, and yet Dante is unscathed after being engulfed in it for several seconds. He uses this against it to split the mask in half. The slash creates a flashy burst of light.

Dante acquires the legendary sword. He swings it around under a raging thunderstorm, it changes into a spear and a scythe, just aura through and through for this blade, complete with its mixture of metal and organic material. He briefly has a black aura, a foreshadowing of the Sparda Devil Trigger he'll use later.

Peak of Mid
... Do you want to change this from both sides glazing into another slander match? I believe I raised issues here before. And I've been intentionally holding back some comments about Doom's issues.

@Hecky2222 What are we to do here? I believe slander was an issue in this tournament. I'd like to know how we proceed.
It's insanely funny that some games and fictions (cough cough Netflix and remake) representations of Dante are legitimately so bad you're not allowed to use them as antifeats in this tournament.
It's because they're non-canon and entirely different unrelated versions of the character. Same as some of the Doom adaptations which aren't being used.
DMC fans talking about how 'iconic' their series / Dante is while

Meanwhile DMC5 is selling on the level of Resident Evil games.

Is DBZ or JJBA not iconic just because One Piece and Pokémon are more so? This isn't a fair point.

DMC4 actually sold very well. It sold over 2.5 million before the reboot was even announced. DMC2 actually sold well also.
Urizen, literally half of Vergil, farms 'the supposed goat' Dante, stopping Dante easily and then beating him with a single blocked punch. The punch was blocked by his sword, and he's still totally beaten by it. The sword also shatters.
Dante comes back later and wins. This is minor at most, especially considering Dante has beaten gods at this point.
It took Nero stepping in after Dante and Vergil had beaten each other down and sucker punching Dante to do it. Dante called Nero dead weight exactly one time, in the middle of a battle where Dante was forced to cover for Nero's retreat. He also did it solely to protect Nero from Vergil.

Literally anyone looks bad if you cherry-pick frames. I've seen a randomly paused Avengers video which caught Scarlett Johanssen with her mouth open not looking so good. There was an episode of HIMYM where they intentionally catch Niel Patrick Harris in a bad photo mid-sneeze too, and anyone would agree those two actors are attractive.

Isn't it slandering other players that's not allowed? It's perfectly alright to slander / give anti-feats to the series. If you're giving a series aura because 'it's iconic' then a rival player should be free to refute that, right?

The Klein/Dante thread turned from good sportsmanship into childish insults and mud-slinging, due to slander and insults. Hecky said the rules on slander would be tightened because of that. In addition you may have noticed I haven't said a single negative thing about Doomguy. It wasn't due to lack of material.

I have since been able to use slander against opponents, including against Klein, and I do not intend to get heated or insult other players. While I do have a preferred horse in this race, I myself am not part of the race. Whoever wins, I don't mind. I have been critical of Doomslayer too. I could go into more, but this isn't my fight so I'm not going to go through things with a fine tooth comb like with Cid.

I advise if you can use antifeats against Doomguy, you should. If you can diminish his aura, that's part of the game, as much as you like it / don't. It's why calling Dante a slob works, IF you can prove it. At the end of the day, it's up to Hecky to decide if antifeats can diminish points, hence why I argued Dante isn't really that iconic, it diminishes his presence.

Honestly, I'm just here to have fun lol. The thread you mentioned got heated as hell tho, but you'll also notice the Kevin vs Klein thread used slander and yet didn't get heated in the same way.

BTW about this, here's the clip. It probably looks bad because the framing is so weird. I'm not intending to cherry pick, it's just always come across as funny-looking to me. (Similar bad-looking scenes have been used to discredit opponent's aura in this tournament before).

It took Nero stepping in after Dante and Vergil had beaten each other down and sucker punching Dante to do it.
It's still a remarkable way to eat your words and have them turned upon you. I'm not talking about purely power here, a loss like this does diminish your aura, at least in my opinion.

DOOM_The_Dark_Ages_DLC_Key_Art_2160p_xatosh

New art for the new DOOM The Dark Ages DLC.

Slayer is in the middle of a horde of Demons in the deepest parts of Hell, Hell's frozen core / heart.
His armor is removed, showing his insane physique off, to the point where it makes Dante look feminine.
Arms literally bigger than his head, with death star delts. And a jawline that makes even Gigachad jealous. He's wearing the Spartan type outfit, with a more berserk look, a spear in his hand, and the super shotgun in his other hand, while also having the shieldsaw.

With both the spear and shield equipped, he literally looks like a spartan, just even more metal and badass than they already were.
Standing on a pile of skulls, surrounded by Demons, and Cosmic horror entities, needing everything they have to throw at him.

a67aa38ab69d6e5bd2e72ecb51664f82.jpg

Literally. every. single. picture. is. aura.

Hellish red background, standing like a king, resting his hands atop of his greatsword, straight out farming aura.

24e0e2cc4b1a2332384316fe546256ce.jpg

He's mid swing you can already tell it's over for whatever's in range. Flail wound all the way back, shield up on the other side, both weapons going ham.
We've caught the perfect scene right in the moment when he's about to turn those Demons into paste. That's the aura.

The armor in The Dark Ages does a lot of heavy lifting for his aura honestly, it looks the heaviest, hardest, and literally looks medievel compared to the other more modern iterations of his armor. Chains, the huge fur cloak, the spike on his massive shoulders pads, knee pads,
Looks less like a soldier and more like some ancient warlord that has been through countless battles / wars. It's the version where he was still young, and had just received his newfound stregnth.

Look at the position of the Demons, beneath him, under him, crawling up to him. Stepping on them from a higher ground, with a red hellish aura behind him.
The decapitated head of one of them flying, blood being spilled, with it dripping from his weapons.
He's literally harvesting them to satiate his thirst for Demon blood.

s-l1200.jpg

Every single Demon in Hell showed up for him, Cacodemons, Imps, Mancubi, Revenants, even the Marauder.
All of them swarming from every direction at once, while he's engage in combat with the marauder, which is a highly trained sentinel warrior, that has went through the divinity machine in order to empower them, and then strengthened even further by the essence of Hell itself, demonifying them.
Specifically created in order to combat the Slayer and hunt him.
Although it doesn't matter, as the Slayer slaughters them anyway.

The yellow glow in the background specifically surrounds him, to make sure the attention is ontop of him, as if it wasn't already before.
A green marine, standing in a sea of Demons.

poster-the-art-of-doom-eternal-hardcover.jpg

Another official art piece, with an army of Sentinels celebrating beneath the Slayer that's looking over them, from a cliff.
They're wearing red banners everywhere, waving them aorund with his mark ontop of it.

Elite super warriors, with huge mechs, dragons flying in the background, with a green supernatural vibe.
The Slayer is their leader, they will follow him anywhere, everywhere into Hell itself if they must.

Here's an actual video of what you can do when you're good at the game.
An actual proper depiction of the way a one man army should look.
Literally slaughtering through hundreds of demons, like they're fodder to them (which they actually are)
The game has a very high skill level, meaning the higher your skill is, the closer you're gonna be to a lore accurate slayer.
Just watch the video and you'll see what i mean, the OSTs are also used perfectly, and just enhances the aura that's already there in any DOOM game really.
Crazy gore, demon pieces flying everywhere as you literally bulldozer through every enemy in the game with absolutely no effort.

Another cool ass video with edit, that starts with the "They are rage, brutal without mercy" "But you, you will be worse." "Rip and tear, until it is done,"
Plays the entire sequence of the Slayer being launched luke a superweapon, which he is.
Times the heaviest ass drop perfectly with him obliterating a rider.
Proceeds to do countless cool combo's and weapon variations, quickswitching weapons, and just straight out styling on Demons.
At an insane speed, it's like an old action move but on speed, crack and any other enhancements you can imagine.
If you let your son play this game, don't be surprised if his balls suddenly drop with a voice deep enough to intimidate you.

Guy adds another cool scene, that adds to his gameplay such as ahzrak watching the hologram, implying that he's WATCHING him do all this crazy shit.
Plays the quote of "all of hell cowering before one man" and directly cuts to him slaughtering demons and continuing his rampage showing why Hell itself cowers before him.
THE OSTS IN THE BACKGROUND ARE AURA COMPLETELY GAPS ANY THEME OR OST DMC HAS

Aura building the f up in the background.

Time to bang your head to ts appreciate the drop.
Proceeds to slaughter and blow hellknight up on the beat.

Edits multiple sequences of every drop being a demon obliterated.
He's insanely efficient at what he does, he fights in order to get his job done, unlike certain characters.

More cool timestamps and transitions that perfectly match with the beat of the OST
Why? because it's badass.

End of the OST is the Old One dying
Now let's see the difference in how someone who is actually skilled fights Ahzrak, and whether he stands any chance or not.
Parries every single one of his attacks with absolutely 0 effort... he doesn't even take a single hp as damage. ON THE BEAT OF THE OST
Ends ahzarak below negative diff, absolutely fodderizing him, making the Prince of the Demons look like a zombie instead of the final boss.
CONTINUES TO SMASH THEM ON THE BEAT

"Rip and tear" chanting in the background as he bashes Ahzrak's skull in, absolute peak gameplay.
Maximum aura, maximum skill.

How the average DOOM fan argues with each other, with the fans being obvious chads.
Don't even need to explain why.

There's dozens of animations of the slayer soloing verses, because of how insanely dominant he is in his games.

Here's him going in the Elden ring verse, with stats that surpass the limits of the game itself, massacring every boss in the game, with absolutely 0 difficulty.
Just him launching, like he's launched in the game is enough to one shot a boss, and the one beneath him soldier of god, rick

Shoves the tree sentinel up the rear of his worse, while bashing the skull of the horse in with his own shield
Bro has 2971 strength beyond the 99 strength cap, with quadrillions of demons killed.

Does whatever he wants, lights out the sites of grace.

One shots Margit by just running through him with his horse

Godrick attacks him with his axe, with the "you died" message popping up.
The Slayer says nah, defies the game itself, grabs the you died screen and uses it to stab godrick, killing him

Serrat fries Radahn

God devouring serpents head gets cut off, before it can even say / do anything.
Fire giants eye gets pulled out by the atlan

Causes Malenia "the undefeated" to not be the boss, reverses their roles, turning her into the challenger, and giving the Slayer the boss health bar.
And as she tried to dodge, by dodge rolling he just one shots her with his mace.

DOOM started an entire sequence of "When the DOOM music kicks in"

Which is full of the most badass and epic action movie scenes, like in Nobody, John Wick, and many other movies.

DOOM_THE_DARK_AGES_STATUE_DSP_ENV.png

He has an entire line of aurafarming statues made of him, of which i personally own the collector's edition, all of them farming aura in the same way that he's depicted.

DOOM has a inspired a new gaming genre, such as Ultrakill, Boltgun, Prodeus and many many more.
BookReaderImages.php

The comic continues, as he goes to search for a "big gun" in order to kill a cyberdemon.
Finds a chainsaw, which is also one of the iconic weapons and is used as a glorykill weapon in the modern games.
"allow me to communicate to you my desire to have your guns" as he shreds through their heads with his chainsaw.

BookReaderImages.php

He's moving from location to location, switching from gun to gun in search for one that big enough.
As he enters a room with a creepy insane smile on his face, shotgun in his hand
says some catchy lines like "might makes light", with everytime he fires it lighting the room up, and everytime he reloads, you can hear it in the dark.

BookReaderImages.php

As he puts the light on, and we see the entire floor of the room riddled with corpses, he stands above them and says "groovy" which is a direct reference to army of the dead, with the boomstick. Basically killed all of them, without even being able to see properly.
And has finally started his love relationship with guns.

BookReaderImages.php

As he ends up finding an even bigger gun among it's corpses, which looks like a minigun.
refers to the gun as "packin 80 pounds of heavenly joy" he calls it a big gun, but not THE big gun, meaning it's still too small for his liking.
Demons attempt to sneak behind him and attack him from the back.
Throughout the panel you can see how much focus the're putting on his musculatre, especially in his biceps and forearms.

BookReaderImages.php

Gets hit in the back with a fireball from the imp, which doesn't kill him, and just seems to piss him off.
calls it stupid, and soon to be stupid and dead, as he starts blasting it away, telling it to dance for him like a jester.
Turns the demon into red paste as he continues to blast it to bits.

BookReaderImages.php

Like i said before, he's insane talking to himself the entire time, and talking to zombies and demons that don't understand in the slightest what he's saying before being blasted to pieces, as he shreds them with a awall of bullets, also hitting them in the face with the gun. He's been slaughtering Demons throughout the entire facility, each zombie we see being a marine like him, but he's just on a completely different level compared to the rest of them.
There's a big presence behind him, looming from the door while he's focused on the front, waiting for the right time.

BookReaderImages.php

Seems to be a baron of hell or hell knight that bull rushes him from behind, throwing him down a well, he's able to instantly react and splits it in half with the minigun.
Continues to shoot it's upperbody despite it being shredded in half.
He fell down into highly radioactive waste that can kill you almost instantaneously, especially with direct contact like this due to poisoning.

BookReaderImages.php

Gets out of the hole, seems to be completely unaffected by the radioactive waste, despite being a normal human at this point.
Starts preaching about environment safety for children, their children's chidren and so on.
Notices his big gun is out of bullets, and keeps looking for the gun he's been looking for since the start.

BookReaderImages.php

Sees another gun he likes, which is the plasma rifle, every single gun seen here are guns he actually uses / has in the original 1993 DOOM game.
Finds floating cacaodemons that are trying to roast him alive with hellfire, ends up dodging through all of their attacks without being hit, and grabs for the rifle.
Instantly tests it out to make a couple of big burn holes through the cacodemons, frying them alive.
Seemingly happy with the results.

BookReaderImages.php

There's a spectre in the room, you can see the silhouette of the demon, that's invisible. The room is filled with radioactive waste, gets smashed by the Demon, taking no damage from it at all despite the Demons being hulking masses of muscle, capable of ripping humans apart by hand.
Lights the entire room on fire, destroying containers of radioactive waste, in order to kill the invisible demon that's trying to hunt him.
The hunter becomes the hunted type situation.

BookReaderImages.php

Ends up finding a room with marines in the process of being slaughtered by demons that are trying to protect the facility.
And sees "the big gun" the one he's been looking for since the start. He doesn't care in the slightest about what's going on in the battlefield itslef, his eyes are just locked onto the gun. On the right side, he starts cutting through the demon, and the floor covered in blood to get to the moneyshot gun.

BookReaderImages.php

My man finally has the big boy gun.
"death surrounds me. yet, in my head i hear something that sounds like angels!"
"I have found the holy grail of firepower!"
he found the BFG9000, which canonically stands for "big f'n gun"

"as i stride knee deep through the dead, all is clear. i know what must be done..."
"my cause is just... my will is strong.. . ... and my gun is very, very large."
No wrong statements there, singlehandedly repelled the entire demon invasion, and his gun is indeed very, very large.

BookReaderImages.php

Finds the cyberdemon, and engages in battle with it, dodging it's ray of death, while having a huge smirk on his face.
"let loose your volley of death, cyberdemon! you struggle in vain!"
"righteousness-- and superior firepower has triumphed! the filthy beast is no more!" as he finally puts an end to the humongous demon, leader of the invasion that was lead on Mars.

"Victory is mine! yet, earth remains besieged by creatures unspeakably foul, it will take a strong man to bring the light of freedom back to this planet. a strong man with the biggest baddest gun in the world"
"Amen to that"
As he stands on the corpse of the cyberdemon, now instantly needing to get ready to fight against the invasion of Hell on Earth itself.

Here's doomguy outrunning rockets from his own rocket launcher, before getting any form of enhancements with the divinity machine.

DTDA_Key_Art_3-1.jpg

First piece of official art we saw of DOOM The Dark Ages.

Slayer in the front, with Serrat his pet dragon behind him waiting to be unleashed.
Standing ontop of a little hill, cape blowing in the wind of the ongoing storm in the background.
Lightning hitting around Serrat, with the red glowing eye of his dragon, and an evil looking smile poking through.
Mechanized wings, with an exoskeleton making it even more powerful than it already is.

Here's some lore about Serrat,
"The Slayer's Mecha Dragon, Serrat, is a feral force unmatched in size and power. Unyielding to the Order of Aerum, Serrat accepted only the Slayer as his alpha, forming a volatile bond. Serrat was grievously wounded by Hell's hordes in the Battle of Black Pyres, but the Slayer's heroic intervention saved him, a moment of humanity rarely shown by the outsider. Under Commander Thira's orders the Sentinels transformed Serrat with advanced engineering, melding his savage might with mechanical precision. Now reborn as a fearsome war machine, Serrat continues his role as the Slayer's ultimate mount, an apex predator of both flesh and steel."

The ruined castle on the left side also sets a vibe, the world looks dead and cold with him being the only part that's lighter, the one warm point in the entire picture, a depiction of hope for whatever side he's on.

Here's a picture of my desk, with the collector edition statue of Doomslayer aurafarming.

During the release of DOOM Eternal, the "anime is temporary but DOOM is Eternal" hype came out.

It starts off with whatever character or anime, other game being shown with a character that could "distract you" only to instantly cut it off, and lock in.
As there's demon slaying to be done.

Credit to Netoriman:

Cerberus, a giant 3 headed ice powered demon dog the size of a building. One of the many 'obstacles' on our aura king's walk out.

The first thing our aura king says to it.

Pisses it off, to the point it shoots an ice blast, Dante just hops over.

Dante sticks it on the beast twofold.

Here again, our aura king bumps into Daddy issues girl, after having dispatched a city sized flying whale demon. As he bursts through it's eye with a slash of his sword, to pose, landing while it's blood sprays like a fountain.

Too far in the aura zone to even face who he speaks to, he just shealths his sword and walks away from daddy issues girl.

Daddy issues wanting attention from our aura King, telling him to wait, having her gun drawn.

Dante replies with a burn.

Suddenly Dante draws his gun, in which they cross over, firing away at an ambush of Demons. Dante finds the moment to have a normal conversation with daddy issues girl, asking for her name.
Which she doesn't give, making Dante brush off her angst by dismissively calling her Lady.
