Abstraction itself

In what context?
Hard to explain. If it's stated that they're abstractions, it would take something like "of the entire universe" for it to really be perceived as a concept. I say this because Darkness is an abstraction but manipulating it is just Darkness Manipulation. I think Ichibei from Bleach can help you find some context. For death, it has to be death itself that's being manipulated and not the death of a particular being.

depends on what you mean by abstractions, do you mean our definition of abstract existence or the general term for abstraction?

elaborate on your question because idk what part you're referring to by abstraction.

Depends on the media itself, some consider death to be more abstract in nature given how we don’t really have much grasp on death beyond it being a necessity in the world (hence why grim reapers are considered death itself in some works of fiction) and other times darkness can either be just a normal thing or something more abstract in nature. It’s a case by case basis on what it is or isn’t.

What do you think about this?

No, abstraction isn't necessarily concept. It being a concept or not depend on how said abstraction does and work, if it behave like concept then it is concept, if it isn't then it is just simply abstraction

What do you think about this?
No, i don't think so, because from what i know of Solo Leveling, he is just superhuman guy and of course have physical body, this "death itself" is just kinda a flowery, metaphorical way of hyping his power, same with darkness thing, iirc he is called Monach of Shadow and have power to control Shadow, and of his power have black, purple color, so the darkness thing is just refering to his shadow power, this isn't something that is abstract
