Avatar Discussion Thread

Even various nonbenders have decent durability feats, albeit mostly Wall level. And there are durability feats to speak of outside of bending barriers; Kai withstood a pretty point blank explosion from P'Li's Combustion Bending.

the best durability feat in the verse imo is roku vs his water bending master... thats easily city block + ap/dc and durability

"They'd turn into a human natural disaster. The first time Kuruk practiced entering the Avatar State, we went to a small, uninhabited atoll so we wouldn't hurt anyone."
"What happened?" Yun said.
"Well, after his eyes stopped glowing and he came down from floating twenty feet in the air inside a sphere of water, the island wasn't there anymore," Jianzhu said. "The rest of us survived by the skin of our teeth. So, no, we're not triggering the Avatar State. I shudder to think what would happen if an Earth Avatar started hurling landmasses left and right with abandon."
There's this in the novels

Can anyone think of anything from the movie that would buff the verse's current speed? Sadly, I can't think of anything.

Funnily enough, there is this statement from an early version of the movie's script. It comes from the scene where Tagah and Aang are rubberbanding each other in the air using their airbending.

i feel the verse has its capped speed already. unless firebenders start using solar energy they not moving from mhs

People have tried to argue the spirit energy that was used in Book 4 of Korra as lightspeed lasers lol

So has anyone done like a cosmology blog on the spirit world yet? I feel like it would be relevant.
That's a good idea, though it's pretty daunting. I've never made a cosmology blog before. Also, there are still plenty of unknowns about how spirit world mechanics work, particularly where the tree of time is concerned.

Sokka tanked hits from Taagah same for Zuko. Should be a clear upscale for all their adult forms. Also noticed Sonam created the mountain so that should be a class t feat at most

There's also the introduction part where Aang is presumably on a mountain (he's standing above the clouds) and creates several mountains very fast while in the avatar state.

Well I guess that means I don't have to ask who here has watched the new movie now. I presume some discussion about the new feats has been going on too? Because I think there's quite a bit of new stuff that happens here.
The only real feat is Aang shattering a mountain. Everything else is just chain scaling or fodder feats in retrospect. Also LoA is a Korra victim

Would it be best to hold off on making new crts until the movie is officially released? I would be surprised if making one from leaked material is allowed.

I think that we should wait until the movie is officially released. Leaked images or video clips linked to in our wiki might get us in serious trouble. Let's hope that Paramount releases it soon. 🙏

VSBW also has a policy against sending URLs to pirated websites. No rules if people shared it via offsite like Discord for example, but as far as this platform or the wiki, do not leak unreleased images or videos yeah.

We have blocked Discord links actually, as images hosted there disappear quickly. 🙏

That's not what I meant. I did not mean it could be done via Discord links being used on this platform. But specifically, if community members were completely offsite using private messages on Discord, we got no rules against that. But the rule against bringing any images, links, or clips here.

Okay. I apologise for the misunderstanding. 🙏

Ehh. Id say those cloud dispersing feats should be worth something, especially since this was base Aang doing those feats with Taga.

Also new hax. Aang id say should undoubtedly be given Dimensional Travel & Summoning via the Ocean Spirit, Sonam's staff getting Reality Warping for destabilizing the spirit world, and that whole thing about the power of the spirit world being drawn on is worth a discussion.

I do agree though that any official CRT should wait until the actual official release to be on the safe side. For now you could just discuss the new material to get our ducks lined in a row in preparation to gather evidence from the officially released movie.

Aang's summoning should definitely be limited. As he put it, he was at the most spiritual place on the planet when he called the Ocean spirit. I agree with everything else.

Also, we should consider scaling Tagah with the staff with the speed of auroras, and by extension Aang in base since he was able to blitz him. He was able to make auroras with the staff, and spiritual stuff in the verse (like Aang getting out of the iceberg and Korra opening the spirit portals) has a precedence of making auroras.

Why would he scale to auroras?

I’m actually not sure on this. Because not only was Aang in base form when this happened, but there’s more spiritually charged places other than that island, like the spirit portals.

Plus, Aang was able to commune with Yue as the moon spirit in a regular location like in the middle of the ocean.

That seems like an exaggeration. Let's go with the actually demonstrated scale instead. 🙏

Before this can go anywhere, is there any way to get a quantifiable size for the spirit world?

I believe I saw stars inside the spirit world when Aang and the others went inside.
The Rise of Kyoshi; Ch.27 said:
He was torturing the person Kyoshi cared about most in the world.
And by every spirit of every star in the night sky, he would pay for that.
The size of the observable universe makes sense; there's a spirit to every star that exists.
