Batman not killing code

I have seen people defended Batman not killing code because when he kills a single person, he is already like any other scum out there. But wouldnt he failed if a single soul out there decided to take the law into their own hands and killed the villain in the city as well ?? It does made them criminal but at least they would do good for the public by not letting more people die.

I dont know, what do you guys think ??
