Confused by Digimon Cosmology

I know Digimon Cosmology runs on layers and servers but was always confused about what they actually are and how many are there
Is it like:
Servers=the universes the seasons manga and games take place in??🤔
Layers=The Multiverses containing this universes and many others??
How many layers/servers does a digital/human world have?
How many servers does a layer have?

Those are good questions, bud sadly ones that can't be answered directly because not even what a Server is and how the different works in the franchise relate to that is explained, The way that the current blogs explain that is overly simplified and I want to change that, and that is because the lack of consistency in Digimon is going to be a major point in my next project.

However, in a way, something needs to be infinite. The Digital World has various statements about being infinite and always expanding, so in a way having at least servers being "somewhat" infinite in number makes sense. The layers are what we don't know a lot about. We know they exist and that the Kernel is the highest "lightside" layer with the Cocytus being the "lowest darkside" layer, but other than that, we don't know anything about the number of layers.
