Dark Souls General Discussion Thread

Why isn't the nameless king 4c? It was said that Gwyn, who received the power of the first fire, was unable to defeat the dragons, indicating that the dragons were not much inferior to Gwyn. It is said that after the scaleless dragon's betrayal, the unnamed king and Gwyn slew the ancient dragons together. So shouldn't the nameless king be scaled to the same level as Gwyn? Because he is at a level that can help him kill enemies that are not much inferior to Gwyn.

the Orb of entremis is crystal the power to entire forge realities.

With a history lost to the ages, the Orb of Entremis is no mere bauble or witch's scrying stone, for within its frangible crystal shell resides the power to forge realities. Working in tandem with the user's very soul and coursing with arcane potency, the Orb ensnares all who dare approach its glow. Once one has pledged themselves to its magiks, they shall never know release

what are your thoughts on this?

Damn, surprised to see that no one has every really talked in here (at least in a few months).

Well I wanted to jump back into DS with some updates. I have a few calculations on the backburner that a need to get done, and I also want to work on codifying high tier scaling for characters based on the division of their souls throughout the game. Out of curiosity though, I was wondering if y'all had thoughts on something.

Currently, standard lords of cinder are scaled to baseline star level based on the first flame creating the sun. However, we learn in DS1 from Quelana that Gwyn's second age of fire lasts for an indeterminate amount of time bellow 1000 years (based on her saying Izalith created the Bed of Chaos 1000 years before the events of DS1, and we know Gwyn was around long enough to go to war with the Demons before giving himself to the First Flame). Taking this at face value, we could say that Lords of Cinders and their souls can only support 1000 years of the sun burning, which if you calculating it out based on the energy output of the sun every second would only be High 5-A+. Basically, should the AP of Lords of Cinder be lowered based on this fact, or should we stick to using the GBE of a star for their AP.

Why would you scale someone maintaining the entirety of a star's existence off only the energy the star is giving off while they maintain it? those are completely different things.

Because whether or not the sun is actually created by the age of fire, or just maintained during it is unknown. We know that things don't simply disappear during the age of dark, so there's a high likelihood that that the sun just stops working and starts producing energy only during the age of fire. Granted, I'm still of belief that the age of fire actually created the sun even though we seriously still need to solidify that with some scan or explanation page cause it's annoying as hell to find the source each time, but I'm just throwing the idea out there just to see if anyone agrees with this and thinks this is a worthy line of scaling to pursue.

I know its been a while, but I wanted to bring this back up. Does anyone know the reason we scale lords of cinder to the GBE of the sun rather than just the energy needed to maintain its fusion for a given amount of time?
