DCU General Discussion Thread

Yeah, I'd much prefer that we get at least a decade of stories featuring DCU Superman before attempting to adapt anything from The Death of Superman

It would be fun to keep Doomsday around the universe, away from Earth. Him causing big events like causing massive damages to the Green Lantern corps by killing 100's of their members, going to the Godsphere and fighting Darkseid and stuff before arriving to Earth. It makes him affect the universe around him and also adds to that Ultimate Lifeform status.

I like it when Doomsday is his own thing and eventually fights Superman which gives him build up and makes the encounter feel natural rather than "Bioengineered thing made to kill Superman"

Yeah this was pretty much a given with that human brain pic on the script. I would rather not have Doomsday this early, he is directly tied to the Death of Superman and it would be to early for that, neither do I want them to skip over it because it is one of the best Superman stories.

Also DCEU already did that failed experiment stuff. It's better to keep his original Ultimate Lifeform origin story and keep him around DCU as a unknown force rip through the universe since a long time now reaching Earth after the justice league has formed.
oh yeah, i forget Dceu also use doomsday also and i think we need a proper 5 to 8 movies before darkside or doomsday, they can be background but invisible only dropping news on them by green lantern and supergirl, since only 2 of them have space knowledge.

Darkseid should be used like in Superman TAS

I don’t want to get excited too early, but late 20s/early 30s, the character is described as a warrior and they’re looking for tall actresses? If that’s not Wonder Woman, I don’t know who else it could be.

Aside from Big Barda ig

A couple months ago, James Gunn did state this regarding Wonder Woman casting:

"I don't think extreme height is the most important factor in casting WW. That's all I said earlier as well. I never said I didn't feel good about her being taller than Superman - I just said that would never be what I considered most important in her casting."

If the casting call is outright requiring a tall actress, I'm starting to lean towards it being for Big Barda instead, especially if the upcoming Mister Miracle show ends up being part of the DCU.

To be fair, he said he doesn’t think height is the most important factor in casting Diana, not necessarily that it’s not an important factor at all.

Yeah he was talking about taller than Superman which is impossible to find a woman who higher than 6'4, looks Mediterranean, has great acting skills and is in the age range needed to continue playing the character for years. 6 feet tall women are mostly Northern Europeans.

But that doesn't mean they won't atleast be finding someone "tall" by women standards like 5'10+.

A threat to Metropolis. That could be taken as city level.
The Kaiju has a similar statement in the official YouTube clip. I don't think it means much, being a threat to the city doesn't necessarily mean that you can destroyed in one attack or something like that.

Gasps in One Punch Man scaling

didn't lantern show got delayed till late of 2026 since s2 of peacemaker had ending left alot of fans disappointed.
There is no officiak reason as to why they delayed the show. I don't see why they would delay it because of different show having some criticisms. Is not like they shoot new scenes that we know of.

we it could different reason but announcement came after disappointing reactions from fans on s2 of peacemaker and this also just my opinion.

"If the episodes are similar to what I saw, the constructs and such will be only a small part of the show.
What's important is the characters and they are AWESOME.
Aaron Pierre is going to steal the show, but Kyle Chandler seemed magnetic to me"

"I fell in love with the ring's design.
In regards to the suit...
It will bring controversy. Is similar to one we have already seen, but it's definitely not a 'fan favorite'."

"The look and feel is key.
The town is hiding something, the mystery.
References? [I guess to the comics] Many and very good.
There is one thing that would bring controversy due to a possible contradiction with the DCU, but I assume it will be explained."

"I'm really looking foward to seeing the show.
To see this characters in this context [best translation I could come with] and what they can do.
But don't wait a 'space opera' but instead a 'crime series' with people flying in it (the flying looks VERY good)."

I'm not convinced with the things he said about the suits, but if the show is good...
Also I'm wondering what can be a lore contradiction or whatever that goes against what little have we seen of this universe.

constructs and such will be only a small part of the show.

Is this a budget problem or just intentional ?

So, according to Superman: The Art and Making of the Film, heat vision is light:

He said "not two lines of laser". He is not saying it's not laser, he is saying it's not just two perfect lines but rather multiple lines making a beam. Just like how shotguns have multiple projectiles in a single direction.

And this tracks with the visuals as we see smaller thinner rays race alongside the main thick beam

With the artbook stuff, there's probably enough information now for a profile for the Jellyfish/interdimensional imp to actually be possible to make.

As a bonus piece of info, we also know from James Gunn himself that the Jellyfish is nothing special among imps:

By the way, would you want people to think that the imp might be the comic book character Mr. Mxyzptlk, who fits that description?
Oh, no. He’s just a stupid basic imp. He’s nowhere near as powerful as Mr. Mxyzptlk.
