I'm kinda in the same boat, the charm of older fatalities was how goofy they could be, really living up to the campy 80s martial arts movies that inspired the games. MK1 is a step up imo because they seem to mostly be embracing that again, out of all the modern era games they're the closest to how they used to be pre-MK9, I really love General Shao's fatality where he just grabs and spins the opponent really fast until they become a skeleton.

Though outside of the fatalities, which I am willing to not deter my judgement how is MK1 in comparison to MKX and MK11? I haven't been following the game much outside of some of the trailers and some of the Youtubers so I haven't had the time to see how it stacks up next to it's predecessors.

I mostly don't like how they introduced Cole here, they start it with a different character. At least with Dimitri, the first Fire Emblem character in DB, you get a little lore background at first.
