The Imitator has been shown to be able to instantly copy abilities before their even shown as the fight starts, so it's not like Ikki can instantly outskill here. What stops The Imitator from well... imitating and eventually overwhelming Ikki?

Also as an FYI: The Imitator has Class T LS while Ikki only has Superhuman, though Ikki has the stamina advantage (even if it doesn't matter when The Imitator is going for the kill off the bat), Imitator also copies skill so we can't say Ikki is superior when they're gonna be equal or The Imitator will be slightly above. Also also, Imitator has High-low regen that heals damage on that level instantly, so Ikki getting hits it won't be as serious.

What if he gets hits with his device on illusory form tho? Just inducing the pain instead of causing real physical damage until he passes out

The Imitator can do the same thing, so it should be equally as effective unless Ikki resists his own technique.

TI was made in like 5 minutes, so it's very much lacking. Not best to put it against Ikki in this state in any case.
