so I dunno where this is gonna go but I know that I love indie games and I'd like to talk about them and maybe play some on my own. I'd like to be able to talk about indie games to everyone and I think this is a good way to promote lesser known games or just good indie games in general. Heck, maybe we can even add them to the wiki if we think it can happen!

But all and all I just wanna hear about some great indie games y'all have seen, so let's get talking. I'm all ears.

I might as well set this off actually.

So I played Khimera: Destroy All Monster Girls, obviously, but I seriously highly recommend it. It's a great free game on Steam that'll give you at least a couple hours of enjoyment, if not more. It's hinestly one of my favorites. I've heard it be compared to Megaman in style.

Theres also Ice Story which is a quick, free to play game made by a French guy. The French part makes it a bit difficult to play but there is some dialogue you can just skip by using a glitch. Overall it's a good game, and pretty cute. I mean it's penguins come on

Well, if you're gonna talk about Khimera, then I feel it's only right to mention Owlboy. A story-based platformer who's gimmick is that you can fly anywhere you want, and you have to take this into consideration while you traverse a beautifully rendered world that uses pixel art in a way that doesn't feel like it's trying to be a retro call-back for once. The controls are tight, every character is just charming and relatable, and it's short enough that you could probably get through it in a day if you concentrate. I highly recommend it.

Also, my brother continues to mention this one to me, but he is following an upcoming and very interesting looking monster-collecting game, a la Pokemon, called Monster Crow. Its main draws are the different monsters within, and the fact that the breeding is extremely in-depth by creating pure hybrids between the two monsters you breed, so that the variety of monster types that can be bred may be unlimited. On top of that, a very deep story, a highly diverse landscape, and many other features make it a very intriguing game to keep one's eye on. It should come out for PC, Switch, and other platforms sometime later this year.

I wanna check out Owlboy at some point, I'll be honest. How much is it, and is it on a steam? That's the main thing I play on so I was curious. If it's on steam I'd totally get myself a copy of it, because it sounds really cool from what you're saying here.

Monster Crown looks super interesting too. My main interest is that breeding mechanic. I kinda wish that the breeding mechanic in pokemon was more interesting to be honest, which is why I liked what Monster Rancher has done, so this seems pretty cool. I'd definitely give it a look and may just get it on my Switch if I can. It looks super fun!

and I wish I had more indie games to talk about. I love indie games because they just support game makers all around

It is on Steam, and it costs a lovely 25$. (31.48$ if you chip in enough to get the beautiful soundtrack, something I neglected to mention before.)

My brother has been following it since it was on Kickstarter, and has been keeping tabs on it ever since, even consistantly signing into their community Discord. So, I'm in the loop via proxy. Doesn't mean I won't play it when it comes out, though. :-)

I'll list a few obvious ones in the Topics that you missed that are all indie games.

Oh yeah that's a good idea.

I dunno the first thing about running a discussion thread besides you talk in it sometimes

Another game that should get a bit more attention is Cave Story. As seen with characters such as Quote (Cave Story), it's a rather interesting action platformer game that has story elements that the inexperienced may confuse with Undertale at times. The gameplay is tight on this one as well, and the difficulty, while it can make you grind your teeth in frustration, is actually rather manageable as long as you can "git gud" at the game and learn how to do things. The only real downside is the fact that there is a secret ending in the game, and you basically need a guide in order to access it. Though, one should play through the normal ending at least once or twice before that, as the difficulty in the true final level is...dumb, to say the least.

Also, it's home to amazing music, such as this.

I've heard good things about Cave Story, actually. Just never got the chance to acquire it, though it's kinda like that with a lot of indie games to be fair. I really need to get some more, all things considered.

Though I do want to check out cave story at some point. It seems pretty good. How old is that game by the way? Just curious. I honestly originally thought it was pretty old.

It was actually one of the first "indie games" to be ever released and hit the mainstream for many players, way back in December 2004 by Daisuke "Pixel" Amaya in Japan.

Though, arguably the best version you can get right now is Cave Story+ Switch Edition, as it's the most polished version of the game to date. Mind you, I only played the 3DS version (of Cave Story+, not Cave Story 3D, which also exists), so I don't really know how great the Switch version is.

I mean I got a switch so I might just take a look at it myself, then. Sounds like a pretty neat game I wouldn't mind giving a shot.

Also I got one verse in particular I really wanna make a page for, but I'd need to play through it all again and it's just hell to get through.

You heard of Long Live the Queen?

It's a game where you take the roll of a princess, Elodie, and you guide her through her childhood to her coronation, teaching her lessons in certain areas and improving her skills, which can be used in skillcheks later in the game.

Also you'll end up dying a lot that's just a certainty, thankfully there's many save files.

Theres a feat there where her and a couple of mages destroy a fleet of ships, but I'd need to play the game to take a look at it

and I dunno how high destroying a ship is.

I think I almost exclusively play indie.

Likely because I do not really have the capacity to pursue gaming as a hobby so I just just look at what's interesting as a premise/story and what I can play without investing much resources rather than what's good as a game.

Ah, I mean fair enough. Indie games are a pretty good way to just enjoy casual gaming, yeah,

I'd probably end up doing that because my computer is honestly garbage. It can barely play some games I have

Tho even if I could play the more high performance games I doubt I would like them better than the good indie games I play.

An indie game that stands out would normally have really fascinating ideas and use the gaming medium very well to execute those ideas. That is why I'm planning to really get into this section of gaming when I become free.

I completely agree with that. A lot of indie games aren't afraid to take risks, most notable examples like Paratopic or Giraffe Town etc. It's very refreshing seeing a game so vastly different than mostly copy paste things we get nowadays from AAA titles.

Even games that people roll their eyes at nowadays and have become mainstream, such as FNAF and Undertale, got as big as they did because they did something completely different and ran with it. The former forced you into a single room while a bunch of figures that are supposed to be colorful child-friendly characters are suddenly your worst nightmare, and the latter turned the entire RPG formula on its head by giving you the choice to spare the monsters around you, and deals out moral consequences if you follow your base instinct.

yo Undertale is indie so I can yell about that here

WOOO

sadly minecraft isn't indie anymore though

The most recent indie game i've played is Fran Bow. Absolutely loved it.

It will get pages here when its sequel comes out.

Well that's pretty sweet tho I definitely gotta look out for that.

But yeah I'm hoping to add a few more obscure indie game verses to this wiki. I'd just need to play through a few of these games again.

My current target is They Bleed Pixels, Long Live the Queen, Ice Devil (same people who made Khimera), and...maybe Cry of Fear it that counts but I dunno I'd have to look into that.

THEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE MEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNGEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Yeah, I heard that The Messanger was a pretty good game. I've been thinking of getting it for my Switch at some point, but I have too many good platformers to squeeze in another one at the moment.

Am I the only one that disikes how Freedom Planet 2 is looking? Zooming the camera out now removes the pretty details the characters had, and it still using a poorly optimized engine to simulate the rendering of a Sega Genesis doesn´t help (As even more detail is obviously lost).

TBH, the first game looked far better, and I doubt they are going to change something like that at this point.

Haven't seen much of it but I really want to get into Freedom Planet so I need to get the first one at some point

It´s a pretty good game.

Here´s a tip when you try it:

With Milla, you can actually "fly" forever by creating a Phantom Block, then just hold the jump button as much as you want to fly and aim the Super Shield Burst to whatever direction you like (downwards and to the opposite direction you want to go is recommended).

With this I managed to skip a good chunck of Sky Battallion by just going down the ship.

Seriously though, when is a The Messenger profile going to be made? I tried to make one but it was deleted.

I'm just gonna hump this and say that

Khimera II is essentially conformed and

im happy

Theres indie games i found that might be good for VBW being night blights, doom.exe, 3 AM at the krusty krab, Alphabet Lane, The Desolate Hope And The Desolate Room, Ravenfield, Heartbound

3 AM series is risky to make, as SCP containment breach, another better fangame, had its profiles deleted. But knock yourself out ig.

Fanworks, especially ones involving characters from other franchises, is a no-go on this site. Those get immediately ported to the FC/OC Wiki or just deleted. That's why Kramer's been looking for any loophole he can in order to get notable creepypasta characters like Slenderman or Jeff the Killer on the site, while ones like BENDROWNED or Sonic.EXE are not allowed for being based on Zelda and Sonic, respectively.

So, no on 3 A.M. at the Krusty Krab, or most other ones I'd love to add to the site like Five Nights at Candy's or PopGoes or even The Joy of Creation. I've personally looking into that, and the best fangame that may have a chance would be One Night at Flumpty's, and even that's stretching it. (Helps when the guy says he can control time and space and he's immune to the plot at the start of the night, though.)

Flumpty's has a legit chance though, we allow other flash games like Epic Battle Fantasy on this wiki, so Eggboi profiles might be ligit

Would be nice if I could sneak AvA Herobrine here due to the loophole he's from an "official" series but eh
