They're about equal with Goku being arguably slightly stronger but Goku can't overcome Buu's regen and his stamina in SSJ3 is terrible.

Kid Buu was wrecking Goku. While Goku thought he could take him.. he plainly underestimated him. He even admitted they might have needed Gohan and Gotenks.

Between the taxation of SSJ3, Buu's Regenerationn and all that is said and done, as well as the possibility of Kid Buu plainly absorbing him in a sneak attack... Goku would lose the majority of the times

I think that was Anime only because Goku definitely didn't say he was just letting Vegeta have a chance in the Manga, Vegeta thought that's what Goku was doing but Goku says he was actually trying to destroy Buu but couldn't.

He also said that he'd need at least one minute of concentrating his KI into an attack to completely destroy Buu but there's absolutely no way he'd be able to do that in a 1v1 fight, hence why he used Vegeta to stall Buu.

Going off of the manga the fight is even until Goku's stamina drops. Without Vegeta to buy him some time to regain energy or throw a Spirit bomb Goku has no hope.

The only way this is fair is if Goku is dead from the start. Otherwise, the result was already stated in canon.

Agree with Ionliosite, Goku really needs to be dead to utilize SSJ3 fully, he's slighty superior to Buu if he can ignore the energy drain.

If Goku is already dead he wins imo.

Yeah I believe he is honestly there is so much evidence in the Manga that he is stronger than Super Buu actually. SSJRyu and Chuck did a really good video on this.

Yes. Maybe.

The only thing holding him back from winning whilst alive is his stamina and energy consumption issues whilst using SSJ3, but they aren't an issue when he's dead.
