most people sort the threads by most recent post, so posting something brings a thread back to the front page where it´s more likely to be seen, bumping is just posting something to get it back on the front page in hopes of it getting some attention/posts, posting again would just bring it back to the front but you can say anything really, ┬¿bump┬¿ is just the generally accepted and mosted used one, for reasons that i dont know.

can't you then just instead of posting "bump" write something like a clickbaity description of the battle you're discussing to get peoples attention ?
