The tiger bites slightly harder, is slightly heavier and kills larger prey. I vote for the tiger.

Also tigers can kill the gaur with relative issues and there haven't been instances of gaur killing them back, while sometimes lions get unlucky and get killed by buffaloes, which are slightly less heavy.

I haven't found a video of that... but I found videos of tigers fightning lions and almost always they have the lion on the ropes . So you are half-right.
