Minor Revision for SCP-096

411
23
Currently, SCP-096 is listed at 8-C, however, according to

Experiment Log T-98816-OC108/682:

Item: SCP-096

Tissue Test Record: N/A

Termination Test Record: Containment tank containing SCP-096 was placed in SCP-682's cell. Personnel vacated vicinity and the tank was opened remotely.

Screams of the two entities continue for twenty-seven (27) hours, at which point the noise abruptly stops. Sonar-based video feeds reveal SCP-096 severely "wounded" and huddled in the southwest corner, apparently upset. Feed shows SCP-682 on the north end of the room, approximately 85% of its initial mass absent. Re-containment teams retrieve both entities with relative ease.

Further attempts to expose SCP-096 to SCP-682 cause it to turn away from 682, jumping in place while clawing at its face and screaming.

In short, SCP-096 stalemated SCP-682 when the Foundation made them fight.

SCP-682 is listed as High 8-C, so I believe that SCP-096 should be slightly bumped from 8-C to High 8-C.

The SCP page says explicitly refrenced. I believe all 682's test logs scale.

Pretty sure we stopped scaling SCPs to each other's directly
Honestly, I find that a bit unfair since almost every DC hero is 4-B because of scaling to Superman

No, what Saikou means is that unlike comics, SCPs aren't created by a single entity. They are made by lots of different people with differing views of the SCPs. Thus, one dude could make an SCP about a chair that makes you laugh, while another can make an SCP that can tear apart the fabric of reality with a sneeze.

Point is, the SCPverse is pretty inconsistent and most of the authors probably don't know about scaling and just follow the 'rule of cool'. If we take most of the tales seriously, we'll have a huge scaling mess as there are like 10 or more different canon storylines that all condradict each other.

Exactly, SCP-096 was explicitly referenced in SCP-682's termination logs, which are a canon part of his official profile on the SCP website

In short, 096 canonically faced off against 682, so he should most definitely be upgraded to High 8-C, either that or 682 should be downgraded to just 8-C.

Bump

as a member of the SCP foundation wiki for some time i can assure you that their isnt any 'contradictory content" of any kind because the admins their are very strict when it comes to how New SCPs are presented and how they cross over to established SCPs (if they do cross over of course)

I do not know enough about the SCP Foundation to be able to help. Sorry.

If you message WeeklyBattles, and maybe Azathoth about replying here, they might be able to help though.

Actually...this would technically be okay by our rules. The rules were set in place so that every SCP with a combat feat wouldnt automatically be placed at High 8-C scaling from 682 in some manor, but 096 (And probably 076 as well) fighting 682 should be fine. Plus 096 already has a feat of destroying multiple houses by running through them so High 8-C should be fine.

Okay. Feel free to adjust the profile accordingly then.

Im not exactly sure how we should treat the camera feat. Would it be SoL reactions? Im honestly not sure...Do you have a link to where this happened?

The feat is 096 detecting that it was observed in the timeframe it takes for a machine to scramble the image.

Well it's only perception speed, unless we have reasons to think it would scale to reactions. However, at minimum, it would be Sub-Relat (Assuming the computers were running at 1 MIPS, when modern computers can be much higher)

The AP upgrade can be added to 096 and probably 076 by the same reasoning, but we still need to figure out exactly how to treat the Sub-Rel feat

Well I think that just "Sub-Relativistic perceptions (Could detected that it has been seen faster than an high-tech computer could block the image)" would be our best bet, as I don't think anyone has outsped 096's perceptions to scale it

Also, didn't 173 also....Trash 682 around like a goddamn ragdoll?

Ah okay

Not really, 682 was just scared of it, it did a bit of damage to him but couldnt do anything permanently due to the size difference, and they had a really long staring contest

I mean, for the brief moment that 682 couldn't look anymore, 682 couldn't defend itself at all from 173. Anything remotely High 8-C wouldn't be endangered by some weak 9-B at all.

One could assume that 524 simply ignores durability, or that it deals scratch damage. Do note that it has regen, meaning it would have been a danger in the long run (Hence why it didn't try to fight it). Unlike 173, who just plain couldn't be stopped from mauling 682 (Only being unable to kill it) without exploiting its weaknesses.

Hmm true, true, but they never really say how long it was fighting 682 for, and 682 had a similar experience with 372 where it couldnt see what it was fighting, and 682 won. It was likely a very short period of time that they had 682 and 173 interact.

SCP-682 introduced into the containment area of SCP-173. SCP-682 makes several screeching noises, and quickly presses against the wall farthest from SCP-173, staring at it the entire time. SCP-682 continues to stare at SCP-173 without pause for six hours. Agents equipped with large-caliber sniper rifles dispatched, and shoot out the eyes of SCP-682, at the same time stopping all observation of SCP-173 and SCP-682.

After resuming observation, SCP-682 is shown to be on the floor, with several injuries around its head, neck and legs. SCP-173 is seen to have tissue from SCP-682 on its "hands". SCP-682 rapidly regenerates damage, and moves to a different wall, developing several sets of eyes on various parts of its body, many covered by thick, clear "caps" of armored carapace. SCP-682 maintains observation of SCP-173 for an additional twelve hours, despite additional efforts of Agents and Foundation staff. SCP-682 allowed to exit containment area, and recaptured in temporary containment.

Notes: After review, it appears SCP-173 was unable to do lethal damage to SCP-682 due to a major difference in physical size. A possible repeat of this test may be made if SCP-682 is damaged enough to reduce its physical mass to a level equal with SCP-173.
