I recently started to get more interested on creations of Japan's Walt Disney and God of Manga himself, Osamu Tezuka, after having bought Dark Horse's omnibus of Astro Boy and a Finnish museum exhibit book, and thought on making a discussion thread there.

Usual subjects are, but not limited to:
  • Cleaning/adding profiles.
  • Discussing about Tezuka's mangas and anime adaptations themselves.

Idk much about Tezuka's works, but they do genuinely interest me.

I'll be here at your service if you need any calculations.

The sandbox looks excellent and de-compositing that Astro Boy profile was much needed.

Also, for his Omega Factor version it's kinda implied that the sun would have gone supernova and that this would kill a lot of people on Earth, but Astro should no longer scale to the final boss as that whole stuff killed him and he defeated Garon by hitting a weakspot over and over.

Also, I never did find any page where to read the manga of the Three-Eyed One/Mitsume ga Tooru or watch its anime or movie, if anyone knows anything I would be happy to be informed.

Well, I wouldn't share pages from illegal manga sites since that's against this website's rules, but an anime has a playlist on YouTube.

For a de-composite project, we may start up with either the 2009 film or 1980 anime, which are both easier to find, though I can't wait to get my hands on a 1963 series (there's a link of all 193 Japanese episodes on Internet Archive and same goes to some of other manga works, which I think may seem safer).

The most I know about astro boy is from Urasawa's more adult themed interpretation of The Greatest Robot on Earth story arc in Pluto but I am a bit interested in tezuka's works so just following this

So, I gave it a try to the Sharaku anime. I gave up easily as it was toned down from the villain I saw in Astro Boy: Omega Factor and the 2 chapters I saw from the manga, I gave it another try not long ago and it was getting better as long as "Yami" Sharaku was on-screen, but then they only had the thing subtitled up to ep 15~. So that sucks.

Oof. Well I just got here so what's the sitch?

Yeah we should make profiles for each key, someone should make a thread about it.

Random thought, but I would be genuinely curious to see how a Death Battle between Simba vs Kimba/Leo would go.

I know they aren’t THAT similar (as the YouTube video from YMS shows), but it’d be neat to delve into that mini rivalry.

For a monthly bump, it looks like we got a update on that reboot which was revealed long times ago in 2015.

For Astro Boy's durability feat in Astro Boy: Omega Factor, it is in the true ending, where Astro Boy rushes to the Sun to stabilize it. The Sun is previously destabilized by a specific matter and Astro Boy has to bring the matter which can stabilized the aforementioned matter with another matter. But since Astro Boy is revived by The Phoenix, it is likely not reliable. Though, The Phoenix grants Astro Boy time travel and Resurrection. It is interesting that Astro Boy with that sprite can kill Mega Man. Or you can say Mega Man is Astro Boy.

For the canonity, this game is more like "Osamu Tezuka Characters Crossover" and should not be considered as Astro Boy canon. And Astro Boy main profiles seriously need a revision. It seems that neither me nor you have decent knowledge in Astro Boy.
A long-time needed bump of the forgotten thread, cue this post from a closed Death Battle thread months ago, especially the lower part (sorry about tagging you, but this is just here for interest alone).

Maybe I should update my original manga canon profile sandbox with a reference list now when remembering this project. For anime pages, perhaps original Japanese airings would be more viable (a 1980 one had both first two episodes unlike the international/American airing). Even a character template.

EDIT: I do wonder if a 1963 anime is actually canon to the original manga as Volume 22's "Astro Returns" took place after it's 193th episode (first serialized in April 1972), just in case for potential changes.
