Question about Information Type 2

So Info Type 2 is defined as
Fundamental: These characters can manipulate information that serves as a fundamental building block of reality. This information is shown to compose reality similar to how data underlies a video game world, code defines the rules of a simulation or in a fashion equally fundamental to these examples. This may allow characters to rewrite the world to their whims, often by programming it much like they would a virtual reality. The ability can come on many levels of potency. The possible uses range from being the mechanism behind mundane magical abilities to rewriting information to change reality, causality or the laws of nature.
While this is fine and good, the Regeneration page has this
High-Godly: The ability to regenerate after the erasure of body, mind, soul, and at least one other fundamental aspect of a character's existence. Such an aspect could be their place in the narrative, their history, their information (Type 2), their concept, et cetera.
Now, most people would see this as "Oh, Someone's fundamental information also serves as the building block of reality", But there are verses like Xenoblade Chronicles and Samurai 8 have Info type 2 for being a singular person's information and not a building block of reality. So this leads me to ask some questions

  • What exactly is someone's "fundamental information"
  • What makes someone's fundamental information differ from something like a soul, essence or type 3 concept
  • Follow up to the last question, what makes this information more abstract

You have been to focusing on the term building block of reality, reality here doesn't mean literal reality but also everything else belong to reality, a person, an object also a reality. So as long as the information is the fundamental building block that define
object, person or even the world, it is qualify as Info 2

What makes someone's fundamental information differ from something like a soul, essence or type 3 concept
I don't understand this question, because their natural inherrently different?,

a soul simply is a soul of a person

a type 3 concept of a person is the fundamental abstract concept that define everything of said person, what make said person what they are, this varrying depend on verses
essence of a person is the intrinsic nature of said person, their quality

Again this is just general understanding, different verses have different way to portray these things

Follow up to the last question, what makes this information more abstract
This is again depending on the verse itself, generally speaking information isn't more or less abstract, it is incomparable with the other metaphysical aspects

Im only going off of the pages on the site, it only classifies it as fundamental information that composes reality as in the world, even the examples used talk about reality warping. No random joe is gonna know all of these alternate conditions, if it's accepted someplace other than the page for it, then the page itself should be modified to fit it, which is the problem i have.

Im asking, what determines someone's "fundamental information" and why would it be different from something like a type 3 concept? Why would it qualify for this and not that? Could the information be literally anything or does it have to be abstract/metaphysical?

Reality is just the state of affairs in which something exists. This certainly applies to only an individual.

You can't really apply type 3 concept standards to someones personal information because info type 2 ultimately ends up the same as being just information no matter its scope or range. Information by default has to be abstract to qualify. If a verse says DNA is the information of a being then that obviously doesn't qualify.

This still doesn't answer the question of, what exactly IS someone's fundamental information? How do we know what counts as someones fundamental information and what makes it different from another fundamental aspect? What makes this thing information? As mentioned before Xenoblade and Samurai 8 got it from mentioning information but GoH got it from genetic code and biology. If its "different for every verse", then theres no actual definition for it and someone could get it just by arguing for it. A verse I'm working on has the soul being someone's fundamental aspect, shaping everything about them, would this count as fundamental information? Why or why not, why is it not just a plain fundamental aspect?

TLDR: What is personal fundamental information defined by

It's determine by the terminology and function the verse uses. The aspect must be explicitly referred to or function as information: data, records, code, a blueprint, a pattern, etc. It's not just about being "fundamental." Many things can be fundamental. What makes it information is how the verse frames it.

No, that would not count as fundamental information. It would be a very potent, fundamental soul.

Here's the distinction:
  • If the verse calls it a "soul" and it governs life force, consciousness, and spiritual existence, its manipulation falls under Soul Manipulation. It's the character's fundamental aspect, but it's a soul.
  • If the verse called that same thing the "Existential Record" or "Personal Data File" and characters could "read," "rewrite," or "delete" it like code, then it would be Information Manipulation (Type 2).
The classification isn't about how important the aspect is; it's about what the aspect is according to the verse's own mechanics and language.
TLDR: What is personal fundamental information defined by
It's defined by these criteria:
  1. Terminology: The verse must describe it using informational terms (data, code, records, etc.).
  2. Function: It must function as the underlying blueprint from which other aspects (body, soul, mind, personal concept) are derived. Erasing it should logically erase the character because their "source code" is gone.
  3. Nature: It must be abstract. The God of High School "genetic code" example is a case where a biological term is used to describe a metaphysical concept that goes far beyond simple DNA. If it's just literal DNA, it's Biological Manipulation, not Information Manipulation.
So, if a character's soul is their core, they have a powerful soul. If their informational record is their core, they have Type 2 information. The distinction is in the label and the mechanics, not just its importance.
