While Spongebob can cause fire to appear around himself, that is really all he can do. If the Thing even touches him, then he is down for the count. And if the Thing gets flash-fried, that ain't a 1HK. All of it's cells must be destroyed. And if it gets small enough, then Spongebob won't be able to see it, and will stop fighting, at which point the Thing touches him and assimialtes.

Ah. Sorry, I'm not that well-versed in that book. Does Spongebob open with it normally? Cause if he uses it to plot manip/reality warp the Thing out of the picture, that would 100% give him the win

But if otherwise, then my vote still goes to the Thing

Spongebob would surely notice that it´s absorbing him and then just cut off the body part so he isn´t entirely affected, however, it would also gain all of Spongebob´s biological abilities in the process, including the Mid-High Regenerationn, making it impossible for Spongebob to defeat it unless he BFRs it with a bubble or plot manips it with the Magic Book, something he would do after noticing how he doesn´t have many options to deal with this.

My vote goes for Spongebob.

Yes. Exactly like a virus. It attacks a single cell, takes it over, and replaces it. Then it does the same to every cell around it. Spongebob has no way to realise that he is being assimilated as the entire process is astoundingly quick, and extremely subtle

Basically. It slowly devoures and replicates your body mass just by touching you, it copies everything about perfectly on a cellular level. Your clothes, your DNA, your memories, everything. The only safe way to detect it is to expose your blood to fire and see if it reacts (and by reacts, I mean come alive and try to eat you) and even then it might be too late. You could be 80% thing right now and you wouldn't know.

That's assuming he'd even know to check for it or how to check for. It works like this: Thing touches you. You're infected, Thing's cells slowly eat your bio mass without you noticing until you've been completely absorbed. Unless SpongeBob can detect a tiny cellular virus within his biology, he wouldn't know to check for it.

I´m sure Regenerationn doesn´t work like that with this sort of stuff...

It´s like cancer, you regenerate the lost parts, but you still have it thanks to how it works.
