Well they didn't fight him only threaten, we don't know how a fight would have played out but yeah the acid seemed more of just a quick AoE thing to smoke them all and just quickly be on his way to Joey rather than him probably feeling like slapping them with a hammer would be ineffective, it could be a possibly maybe ig for sure

I implore to then watch the movie but for context Superman was heavily weakened due to kryptonite and destroyed this machine while still weakened, during this time he was having a bit of a struggle dealing with Lex's Raptor Unit who was guarding the prison, Mr. Terrific like no diffs a large group of these same Raptors earlier and Hawkgirl would upscale him
