First one is about "The Story of Superman" which is a primal truth in DC.
Second one doesn't show Superman resisting absorption but he did in that storyline where the Trans were going to absorb the universe.
Though what the Trans did there was merge with the "imaginal realm" or the collective unconsciousness and the JLA resisted it.
