Since the other thread ended, I thought I would make this.

Essentially, Superman can mentally control his power levels, which adds more to his holding back mechanism. Realistically speaking, Superman's durability shouldn't go down from 4B to 5A, but it does. The reason is quite simple; Superman's power depends on his mental control over them. His mind is required for his powers to operate at a certain level. Darkseid explains it best after studying and planning to defeat him for a long time. The source for this is Action Comics Vol 1 586.

To further add to this, in the same issue, he was struggling to lift certain weights because he thought he was so weak. When Darkseid comes in and """unlocks"" his mind, he is suddenly strong enough to fight Orion.

His new AP would look like this;
Varies up to 5-A normally, up to 4-B at peak

Edit: This will also grant him Self-Statistics Amplifications and Self-Statistics Reduction

I knew Superman had a proper "Varies" mechanism in the canon Post-Crisis timeline.

Sad it doesn't depend on his "bio-electric aura" thingy he had in All-Star Superman, but this is still damn good. I accept.

I'm not fully sure about this being considered a varies though the mechanism is legit, but if his standard power level is lower than 4-B it does make sense to list it

I added another thing.

And some more context.

We already grant varied for this sort of stuff for other characters. Like Sentry and Captain Atom has a similar mechanism. Their's a bit more broken and effed up, but still similar.

This seems to make sense to me as well.

Would many other DC Comics characters need to have their statistics changed to 5-A based on this?

No, not anything like that atm. Although this could be scalable to other Krytopnian, so possibly Supergirl and Power Girl could get affected by this.

Okay. I thought that some other character such as Aquaman were given 4-B ratings from scaling to Superman.

Don't think so. Tho either way, that part was already changed when he was given 5-A rating. A lot scale to is 5A now instead of 4B.

No, not at all. I will open the page. Tell me here when you are done.

Okay. Thank you for helping out.

Should we close this thread as well then?

Okay. Thank you to everybody who helped out here.
