The mighty Brazilian football legend, Pelé, arguably the greatest and best footballer the world has ever seen, passed away at the age of 82 last Thursday as of writing this post. He was suffering from colon cancer since at least September 2021.

The massive contributions he has made for Brazil and the sport as a whole simply cannot be understated. Without him, the sport would not be anywhere near as great as it is today.

Many players around the world, including Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi have made their tributes in respect to the legend.

The body may close its eyes, but the legacy goes on wide awake. I didn't live the days when he was playing, but saw in my generation all the good things that his efforts brought to the sport. Sad that we couldn't see him off as six-time champions for our parting gift, but the love and respect for his memory isn't any less true. Thank you for everything, Pelé!
