Two issues with mythology

  • Neopaganism and other minorities
It is supposedly against the rules to list profiles for deities worshipped in religions, but if so, this whole verse should be deleted as, for example, there are contemporary religions like Ásatrú, Hellenism, Shenisn, Wicca, Neotolteca, etc., that still worship every deity listed on this verse.

So we have a problem of discrimination with minority believers (pagans, witches, magickians), and those are tens of millions of people in total.

  • Comparative mythology
There are many examples of different mythologies talking about the same concept but with different (culturally-influenced) names. For instance, Judaic Adam Qadmo = Nordic Ymir = Persian Gayomart = Chinese P'an-ku = Hindu Purusha. Another example, are the Feri gods like Mari, who syncretises many gods into one. These equations between mythologies are as old as Ancient Greek's writings. The Sanatana Dharma always believed that all religions are one, and it shows with Jung's psychoanalytic theory of the collective unconscious.

How do we resolve this issues?

1. The reason for those is because it is not controversial and has a soft/no stance on deities. The vast majority of people think of the old pagan religions as mythology. Controversy is the reason why we don't have profiles on major religions such as the Abrahamic religions, Hinduism, etc. If there were a large influx of pagans who complained about our profile here, we would likely get rid of them. Some religions, like Buddhism, really don't believe in gods or have a different stance and is not really a problem.

2. There are many gods and goddesses that are similar to each other but are not exactly the same. Thor, tyr, odin, zeus, and dyeus all come from the proto-indo european god DYEUS PATER, but these gods are different and unique to the point where you can easily distinguish them. There are some exceptions where different pantheons are incredibly similar to each other like the Greco-Roman pantheon or Mesopotamian gods but we just combine them if they are incredibly similar.

Mari and deities like here most likely will not get a profile out of confusion.

As for Hinduisms and Carl Jung's theories and beliefs on other religions, even though religions and mythologies may come from a common ancestor, they are not all exactly the same and have wildly different stories and interpretations where they are distinguished. So this is not a problem.
