Premise
After all this time, it’s finally happening—well, maybe it’s just me, but I’ve been waiting for this moment. The Ultra Series is diving into some seriously exciting territory, bringing in Acausality Type 4 into the mix.
Cases
Ultraman Nexus
Ultraman Nexus possesses the power to alter the outcomes of future events foreseen by precognitive individuals and to open up entirely new possibilities. This includes figures like Dark Zagi, who foresaw that Nagi would become Nexus’s Dunamist, and Yū Kirasawa, the Illustrator, who also holds the ability to see the future.By transcending the despair-filled vision predicted by the Visitors, Nexus (as Noa) defied fate itself and forged an alternative future—one sparked by humanity’s courage and hope rather than fear.
Ultraman X
Daichi's mother foresaw the Earth's future—a future where the planet and everything on it would perish due to Greeza's destruction. As a result, the Earth was left with no future and was destined for an end without continuation. However, through the Xlugger, she heard a voice from the future: Daichi's voice. It was a voice that would alter the Earth's destined demise and bring hope to all through his light.Daichi fulfilled his mother's prophecy by changing the fate of Earth. Using the combined light of himself and Ultraman X through the Xlugger, he summoned the powers of countless Kaiju to confront Greeza and ultimately rewrite destiny itself. In the final moment, X hurled the Xlugger at Greeza, triggering a powerful explosion—because Greeza, a being that shouldn’t exist, was torn apart by the very forces of reality rejecting him.
Ultraman Orb
Haruka is no ordinary girl—she has a mysterious gift: the power to dream of kaiju appearances with uncanny precision, foreseeing exactly when, where, and how they’ll strike. Her ability shines brightest when she predicts the arrival of all the Demon Lord kaiju, complete with details of their terrifying powers. She reveals that these prophetic dreams have haunted her since childhood. Back then, she foresaw her family's fate... and even knew her crush would transfer schools before anyone else. That chapter of her life left her with a painful but deeply rooted belief: no matter what you do, fate cannot be changed.
But then Orb enters her life. With unwavering confidence, he tells Haruka that while the past may be set in stone, the future still holds countless possibilities. That spark of hope is proven real when the seemingly inevitable happens—and doesn’t. Orb defies destiny and survives Hoe’s deadly attack, shattering Haruka's long-held belief and revealing that fate, after all, isn’t absolute.
Ultraman R/B
Mio Minato was taken to another dimension where the flow of time was nonexistent. There, she witnessed countless events unfolding across various times and places, each visualized as floating bubbles. Among them, she saw Katsumi and Isami fleeing and nearly killed by an attack from Grigio. Unable to bear the thought of losing her sons, she gave them the R/B Crystals—items that would alter their destiny and save their lives. While in that dimension, she foresaw a future in which her sons would perish if they confronted Leugocyte in battle. Unable to bear the thought, she ultimately devised a plan to defeat Leugocyte without involving them in the fight. When a battle with Leugocyte erupted and the foreseen future seemed imminent, she locked her sons' transformation devices, believing she had prevented their deaths—though in truth, she hadn’t actually changed the future.
Katsumi and Isami proclaimed to their mother that the future could be changed—because they were Ultraman, beings who possessed the power to shape destiny. And they proved it: instead of being turned to stone and dying at the hands of Leugocyte, they transformed into Ruebe and altered the outcome.
Conclusion
In the Ultra Series, Ultras are unaffected by predetermined fate and possess actions that cannot be foreseen through precognition—even on a vast scale that encompasses countless potential futures. These are futures that should have happened, but didn’t, thanks to the protective power of an Ultra’s Inner Light. This unique trait grants them Acausality (Type 4) and resistance to both Fate Manipulation and Precognition.Characters affected by this:
- All Ultras—i.e., everyone who possesses Ultra Physiology (obviously)
- Non-Ultras who also possess Ultra Physiology
