Valve's Deadlock Discussion Thread (Bot free edition)

Got invited to the early access party (on my birthday too, no less). Just like some of Valve's other games, this verse has some crazy overpowered stuff that's just overlooked by a lot of fans, so it'll be fun to index the cast. I'll try to get to work on a blog that showcases the general abilities and items all the heroes have, but I'm calling dibs on Dynamo's profile.

Almost done with Dynamo's profile. It'll include the base abilities that every hero has as well, I think that every profile should have the general hero abilities and the character's actual notable abilities listed in separate tabbers.

Man, I think it's better not to even try to profile this.

Deadlock is not even a game in the Beta or Alpha phase, but rather a test development that has not yet been released.

Like, the characters can completely change as the game progresses, besides the wiki probably doesn't allow that?

The current plan's to just work on the profiles and release them when the game becomes fully available to the public. So it's all just indexing at the moment.

The wiki does allow unfinished games, but I'd rather wait for the game's official release. The lore and design of most of the characters are finished if Lady Geist's novel is anything to go off of, but the game will have all the actually good stuff that tickles the chimp powerscaler part of the brain.

Scratch that. It seems like two whole comics will be released alongside the Lady Geist novel when the game drops (if the files inside it are anything to go by), that's crazy.

Anybody knowledgeable on UES? I want to see if Deadlock would qualify for any of the energy systems we got. Probs will make a separate Q&A thread to ask the rest of the forum about this.

All the character's abilities and powers draw from the same source of energy, that being Spirit. Spirit can be used to empower both the physicals and weapons (and obviously abilities) of a person, as shown with Mcginnis and the Occult Military Industrial Complex. Some characters are also made purely out of Spirit, like Seven, Vindicta and Oathkeeper. Spirit is literally the currency of the setting as well, with the items being sold at the Curiosity Shop being stated to be mass-produced items that mystics buy all the time.

Haven't figured out the scaling for speed yet, but I think we can scale the cast's physicals and guns to whatever GPE that walkers have since they can harm them, and then their dura can scale to their punches and guns since they punch and shoot eachother.

I think getting someone to calculate the GPE of the walkers would give us the best physical stats for everyone in the cast, considering they can harm them with both of their guns and fists.
we will leave the patron scaling for later sssshhhhhh

probably, the thing with the walkers is that to kill them it takes a LOT of shots + supporting fire from the troopers, so idk if we can just compare them to the characters like theyre equal. Unless they can survive the walker's stomping attack at round start, in which case yeah I can see it

We have statements and are shown in-game that the heroes have Accelerated Development because of blessings from the Patrons, which is why they're able to significantly damage walkers without having that many items the longer the game progresses (also the fact walkers are affected by relics like the Crushing Fists). Though a good counterargument is that walkers also get weaker as time passes because of game mechanics, as they straight up just lose their resistances and gain weaknesses at minute 16 lmao

I used the wrong heights in the Lash calc (and maybe the Mo one). I'll fix it later. Let me know of any other feats. Idk how to calc the big guy's gpe tho

I'll try and check which formula could be used for walker GBE, in the meantime do you think their craters could give any good results?

Would certainly be worth calcing, might be a bit better than Lash's crater, but probably not as good as Mo's

Until we can get spirit power accepted as a UES, it'd be pretty hard to convince people that the cast scales to anything related to lightning or light no tier 7 cast scaling through seven's storm cloud... for now...

Think being able to create a tornado counts as subsonic or higher, so Mirage's ability could support the Apollo stuff.

is this from the backstory where Seven turns a guy into ash?

if so that feat may help become the main feat for physicals n all or atleast for basic abilities since Seven did seemingly do this casually iirc
Mo's feat is the main one, but its a nice supporting feat

On the topic of profile formats, should we spread abilities into three tabbers? One for general abilities all heroes get, one for the abilities unique to the hero, and one for the items and power-ups? (I have an ancient as **** and unfinished Dynamo blog that lists the general hero abilities with scans butthelinksdontworkthatsoawesome, but some things would need to be changed like how a parry makes opponents take increased damage from every source instead of just melee)

it should be in a third tabber on the profile

Most are simply stat amplification or reduction and some like Torment Pulse will have their own unique ability

the profiles should have a note atleast outlining that in the case of a VS matchup, that OP has to state which upgrades the character has

imagine if they kept the pre shop rework item slots so we could do matches where the char has access to 16 items

I'm hesitant about adding the Legendary items from the Street Brawl gamemode. As far as I'm aware there's nothing that suggests the mode is canon, which in turn means those items wouldn't be either.

I think for now we shouldnt consider it unless theres confirmation for it in canon or the upgrades get added to the regular gamemode

Aren't all the items canonically just stuff that the Curiosity Shop sells? Like, those legendary items are objects that exist in the world of the game. Even if the vendor doesn't sell them during the ritual, he might sell them any other day. I think they might be fine to add, maybe with a disclaimer or something.
