what happening if every small tier gap fight in accepting

I think they mean "What if we accepted every fight where there was a small tier gap", instead of closing those threads for being "stomp"/"spite" matches.

The problem is, similar Tiers aren't necessarily similar levels of capability:

VSBW Tiers are named for the amount of energy it would take in Real Life to destroy a typical (Under well-defined, standardized definitions.) example of that structure.

As a result, the difference between 2 members of the same tier can often be one being 5 or 10 or more times stronger, in many cases, meaning one side can't be harmed by the other, & is also able to defeat the opposing side in one hit. Not exactly fair.

When two characters with a huge, or even insurmountable difference in power fight, if we're being realistic, often, the massively stronger of the two is going to win easily.

It's one-sided, predictable, not very fair, & as such, many such matches aren't seen as worth debating as others.
