Wheel of Time Profiles

So there's a fairly reputable verse out there that is sadly lacking profiles, and everything else. I made this post upon recommendation of a staff member to see if anyone else is interested in helping out in making profiles, editing the verse page and so on.

For those who don't know, WoT is an epic fantasy series by Robert Jordan that is 14 books long and known for its magic system, rich characters and story.

I haven't finished it, and I read it at a school library that I no longer go to so I don't have access to the series unfortunately.

As much as I'd love to help introduce new, obscure verses, I'm currently reading both Overlord and Stormlight Archives, and I plan on reading Steelheart after that, so I'm not really available to help. Sorry.

My brother has read it, and talked about some bada** Existence Erasure spell called Balefire, as well as some major storm creation feat by the main character that essentially revived a desert.

Aside from that, though, I got nothing to add.

Balefire's cool. Essentially, the world and its history are part of a "weave" of threads on a loom, a "Pattern" and balefire can burn away those threads. So it erases whatever it hits, and the more powerful it is, the further back in time it burns away the weave, so it essentially undos events. If a person killed someone, and then got hit by Balefire a second later, that someone would come back to life because the event of them being killed by the person was burnt from existence.

Also the main character also has some huge lighting storm feat at some point.

Ok, as far as the books go, you can find them online (not exactly fine), so worst case scenario we can still find feats.

Assuming anyone is interested, should a profile be made?

You can create profiles if you find good feats to scale from.

I also really like this series btw.

Well, like both me and Monarch said, Rand supposedly has a major storm creation feat that could be attempted to work with.

I was actually thinking of making one for Mat first, since he doesn't exactly go through a lot of powerups and would be relatively simple. Channelling might need a thread to discuss stuff.

I only read New Spring so far, but from what I've seen, Weaving and Channeling are flippin' complicated. I think there should be a respect blog for those techniques, just so people know how the heck that world's magic works.

YOOO!!! I love WoT, have most of the books and wanted to work on them next (Currently working on Blood Lad profiles), so I'm all for helping out. Keep me in the loop, please. It has been a few years since I finished the series, so it's not super fresh, but I was thinking of rereading them anyway.

Anyway, while I have not read the series, I would hate to see people's work go to waste. If you want to keep the verse page up, then get like 1 notable but not too complicated character, and then tackle the other ones when you get the time to collect feats for them

I mean, that's why I have Molstrom there for when I make the verse page for Owlboy. So, that obviously makes sense.

Stuff I was thinking about doing:

  • Looking for a Mat respect thread or such for the profile, since he's a MC but without a lot of powers to make things difficult.
  • Channeling, The One Power and The True Power need a blog without straight up copying stuff from the WoT wiki.
  • The Power of the Verse section needs to be rewritten to something better. Current version is below:
'With an explicitly multiversal threat known as the Dark One and an even stronger supreme being, it is a very powerful franchise. Magic in the verse can remove people from the timeline.'

Suggestions would be welcome.

Fun facts:

  • The series will be getting a TV adaptation some time in the future, thanks to Sony and Amazon.
  • Rand is as tall as Michael Jordan the former basketball player.
