So besides freely, but also randomly setting up days to recruit new heroes (probably from the fact people died on the job), I noticed some characters point out facts of the HA, but then S Class heroes often contradict it.
So you need to be properly recruited after passing the examination, fair enough. So how did King and Metal Knight get into the spots they have now?
On a related note, King mentions (at least in the anime subtitles) he is unemployed. Don't heroes get paid for their work? Like King bought a video game and has a home, like Saitama. Genos affords new swag literally every time we see him, but he is an S Class, like King. Are they actually paid? Do all 3 of them just chose to live like this? I get other S Class like Atomic Samurai and Bang pull an old Japanese stereotype and essentially live out of their dojos or something, but everyone else must live like kings (just not THAT King).
