Xenoblade Chronicles Discussion Thread

Do you think Zanza should possibly be Supergenius, I could doubt that he was a scientist that used the Conduit to create a new universe
Supergenius is being able to make devices that can make tier 1 entities. Klaus never did any of this nor was he the only person working on that project.

If he constructed Conduit from scratch as opposed to merely discovering it; then maybe he could qualify. But he merely discovered and worked hard to organize planning, so Extraordinary Genius seems more consistent.

We got Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition, 2 and 3 Nintendo Switch 2 editions and a brand new game in the same Direct!
Yes! Not to mention, Genesis has a look that reminds me of Metaphor: Refantazio's character models with Three Houses' backgrounds.

Yeah, if they didn't cover Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave and Metaphor: ReFantazio earlier and mentioned that this was a new Xenoblade Chronicles game, I would've assumed that this one of those two.

I think it's super interesting that we're getting a more fantasy inspired Xenoblade Chronicles game.

I will say the biggest change is that it's just called Xenoblade Genesis, they removed "Chronicles" from the title to show a new era. But yeah, while party members and chain attacks are likely still big part, I think the combat is becoming more action heavy too. There was a hint that many assumed was a brand new IP (Which could still be possible), but the idea of it being a hybrid formula between Xenoblade Chronicles and Wild era Legend of Zelda looks like the direction they're going.

LET’s GO!! More Xenoblade! I am so excited!

I'm not convinced.

Even when accounting for Takahashi's statement about 'the end of the Klaus saga' (which given that statement was before FR's release, and the way he panicked around XCXDE), the only way you're going to link this in any way to the current series is if it's used as an explanation for that whole 'what happened to those born in the City in the Endless Now when Origin got shut down?' question that's been murmured in ancillary criticism the last I checked (and even then, this would only suggest a regression of the series technology given what's been shown). Particle effects that vaguely resemble Ouroboros/Interlinking isn't enough to fly me here.

E: it's evident Takahashi can't make his mind up. The trailer speaks of 'the Vengeance of a God' which is pretty obviously Zanza, and yet you expect me to believe that this 'new world' post-dates Zanza's defeat?

I am really curious on all this. This world seems very different from what we know but I wonder how it became like that. I do not think the God they mentioned is going to be Zanza but rather another evil deity figure we'll fight later. I do wonder how this'll connect to the other games but we'll have to wait and see.

Its possible! I'll assume it'll connect though given its Takahashi and that man cannot help himself on connecting everything. My guess is that its another universe in the multiverse and we'll find out more later. Something I was interested in though was Anima. It functioned exactly like Xenoblade 1's Ether does and the entire world there is made of it which has me wonder why that is the case. What happened to cause that world to be made of this energy like how 1 was made of ether.

If it’s going to connect, one theory I have is that perhaps it’s a dimension connected to Pneuma in some way, since both Anima and Pneuma have the same meaning of “breath” or “spirit”

I'm sure it's the same multiverse somewhere down the line, but it is a new saga as in expect the main focus of the plot to consist of new characters. Though the subtitle "Genesis" does given distant prequal vibes. One note is that "Anima" appears to be the new name/term of "Ether." Many speculate if there may be a connection of Anima and Animus mentioned in Xenosaga.

Given that Namco Bandai has recently removed Xenosaga from list of owned IPs, it hints something but we don't know for certain.

Also a bit late to respond to this, but:

May I humbly remind people that the place Zanza is fought is called ‘Sentient Genesis’?

Somehow, I just now learned this thread exists. It's good to be a Xenoblade fan right now.

For some reason, it reminded me of Trails of Cold Steel when I saw the trailer. Which is weird, because I've never played any Trails games...

I really hope they add a lot more side quests to level up in the midst of the story for the 1st game (this was a problem I personally encountered) around the High Entia arc where you start fighting some Telethia the difficulty really ramps up, and the worst part is unlike XB2 there really isn't much to do in the game to level up efficiently.

For XB2 field skills and the gacha need a big overhaul, since field skills are by nature inherently tied to the blades you own, if they fix the gacha and add an actual pity system (and please don't just copy genshin's 90 pity and 50/50 system) then the field skills will by nature feel a lot worse. Also maybe increase the amount of core crystals you can get from farming or making a specific daily/weekly quest where you get...idk...5 or 8 core crystals a week or smth.

I haven't played the 3rd game so I can't comment on anything there, I heard the update for these were like 20gb? For a switch game that's a decently large chunk, but that could also just be 75% graphics and the other 25% could be the few things they teased (which I seriously hope is not the case) but what do you guys think?

Forgive me if I come off as ignorant, but can I ask for a source on this? This is the first time I'm actually hearing about it, so now I'm kinda curious.

There have been videos talking about it since January. Where it WAS listed on the Namco's website on list of owned IPs last year and prior that can be seen via Wayback Machine. But as of 2026, it was removed entirely.

I'd give Takahashi credit where it's due... if it weren't a distinction without a difference given the exchange of money over what was effectively a cameo at the time (I of course refer to the Yuriev 'mention', and the lie that Ghosts = Gnosis (they don't...)).

The closer this scrub from BN was to the release of XCXDE, the less of an excuse it would have been for Takahashi.

If this was back in January, that probably explains why I never heard about it: that was a rather hectic month for me...

But if it turns out to be true, that actually would be pretty significant coming from Nintendo. As the video pointed out, they usually only buy up developers like Monolith Soft, Retro Studios, and Next Level Games. I know they mentioned once that they were gonna be more open to acquisitions, but as far as I had been aware the only thing to come from that was them buying Bandai Namco's Singapore division. If it turns out they really did buy Xenosaga, I'm starting to wonder if it's somehow connected.

Sorry for the ramble, this sort of thing can be fascinating to me.
