Giant gorilla vs telepathic gorilla. King Kong (Paramount) vs Gorilla Grodd (Post Crisis)

What stops Grodd from simply mind-haxing Kong?
Nothing. Assuming that Grodd (who is physically far weaker than Kong) decides to go with that for an opening move and is able to use it before Kong rushes him. Brainwashing Kong and making him his new enforcer/weapon is Grodd's main win condition here, since Kong can easily crush him with his superior size, strength, and weight. Grodd could likely give Kong a bit of trouble with his other powers, but Kong is stronger to the point that mind control is really the only way Grodd can actually pull off a victory.

Both have the potential to win this fight. Kong can easily overpower and kill Grodd in a straight up fight, while Grodd could make Kong his slave. I'm not sure if that's Grodd's standard opening move though. Anyone familiar with his standard tactics?

Can he get that off before Kong smashes him though? This seems like a "who shoots first" scenario. 50 feet isn't that much of a distance considering Kong's size. Considering speed is equalized, it comes down to which is easier to get off.

not very knoldgeble in DC scaling and such so I can't say how long It takes to use mind haxes but sinse speed is equalized he probable can win the cross fire

Counted. You do make a good point about how Grodd's likely to immediately go for his trump card upon seeing a giant gorilla. Who wouldn't immediately go for their best move upon seeing a giant gorilla? Especially considering the fact that Grodd isn't stupid.

Bruh neither profile has links to feats and scaling this is genuienly ass
Grodd scales to this. Kong is probably baseline through sheer size and/or by upscaling from total destruction of M4 Sherman.
This does mean that Grodd isn't actually that much weaker than him in terms of AP.

Kong just has approximately 3x ap of Grodd which means he can’t oneshot him. Grodd definitely take this voting Grodd

It's actually closer to 4x since Kong is baseline High 8-C (2 tons vs about 0.5 tons) but yeah, my point still stands.

I seem to have bad luck with some of the matches I make. In concept many of them seem like creative or thematic matches, but many of them are too one-sided. Of course, I have gotten my share of matches that proved legitimate in the end. I seem to have mixed results with the matches I make. I don't always understand the gap in advantage some opponents have over the others. Kind of disappointed because I had been planning this one for quite some time. At least I got my answer. That's one less match to concern myself with.

Just check the AP of the profiles, making sure they are in reasonable range (1-3x difference) of each other, then read the abilities and make sure nobody has an easy condition to win. In this case, mind control was something Grodd did casually, meaning he would simply use it really fast and win. Check resistances ect. It seems annoying but that is how you figure out a good match.
