DEATH BATTLE! Discussion Thread (All-time Death Battle Spoilers Alert)

Tom vs Wile? It's just kinda mid tbh. Nobody outside of the discord community really talks about it.

Least it wasn't Aang vs Traveler. I haven't heard nary a WORD from ANYONE of it in like... a year
I was actually talking about Aang vs Traveler. Not even sure who Traveler is, to be honest. No offense to people who like the character, I'm not trying to hate.

Well it happens when your comics are still going while Archie sonic got canceled
Yeah. The only thing that's made Archie Sonic more powerful after it's ended is people finding out (Read: combing over the material over and over again until they find something new) that it references games (and thus their cosmology and feats) happening in the comic on top of what's in the Comic already, retroactively boosting it.

A good example is Sonic Generations, where someone recently found that the Archie Megaman Crossover literally mentions the Time Eater and it's havoc verbatim, so now Archie Sonic has his feats + Everything that happened in that title, whhiiich includes things like Sonic running so fast he fixes Space-Time, beating Perfect Chaos in Base, racing to the End of Time, the hax resistance and power from White Space, Acausality, etc.

Essentially, Simon becomes not just Ion, but every Spectrum Entity/Deity and serves as an INFINITE BATTERY and SUPERCHARGER for their powers, alongside granting each access to his now Source-Spiral Energy, or granting them all the mathematical truth of Life is worth living.

Which is incredibly ironic. The Spiral Nemesis was about how an overabundance and use of Spiral Power would end the Cosmos, and Simon--Through Kyle--Is granted the perfect means to prove the Anti-Spirals wrong and lead the world into ULTIMATE paradise, as he said he would when the Cosmos was entrusted to him. It fulfills the prophecy and breaks past it, which is exactly what Simon (and Kyle) are as characters.

Kinda crazy that the only misfire so far in Death Battle's relaunch is Omni-man vs Bardock (maybe Kratos vs Asura, too), and even that's not the worst episode they've ever put out or anything. Independent DB has a great track record, so far.
OmniDock is just calc controversy, kratosura is a whole different beast.

What was wrong with Kratosura? I know the characters, but it wasn't a MU I was super invested in.
Fight itself was very underwhelming, the reasoning they gave for Kratos' stats were kinda shit, and plus there's the ever eternal debate about whether or not Kratos is multiversal or barely continent level.

If this is, like, a super controversial discussion or something, my apologies. I don't mean to stir the pot.
The animation was shit for one, and two their reasoning for Kratos winning was some of the most fanboy/headcanon-esque reasonings ever. They said, and I quote, "just because Kratos has never done any of this stuff on screen doesn't mean he couldn't", and gave him infinite speed because he blocked sunlight with his hand.

I see. I don't know a lot about the scaling for Kratos or Asura, but if it really was handled that badly, then yeah it probably is a worse episode overall than Omni-Man vs Bardock. Though I maintain that the fight animation itself was still worse than Kratosura. No hate to Devil Artemis of course, but it was definitely not his best work.

I think the most 'major' issue with Simon vs Kyle coming out the way that it did is that the next episode is going to take a hit in views simply on a count of it not being Simon vs Kyle. Doesn't really matter what that episode will be.

It's like if you released GvS3 in mid-late May. This is what SvK is.
