All Purpose Dragon Ball Thread

Well, kinda expected. Yesterday I believe in the interview, it was forbidden to ask about the future of the DB franchise, however, people asked anyways....and Toyotaro and Torisihima replied in a bad mood, saying that "it depends of what others above us say" or some shit.

To my recollection what they more specifically stated is that they (Toyo, Torishima, Nakatsuru) have no power over decisions made by Shueisha, Toei and Toriyama's Estate and Torishima was 'subtly' telling fans to go after them instead.

Notably Toyotaro kept on iterating that he loves Dragon Ball, became a mangaka for Dragon Ball and is perfectly fine doing Dragon Ball his entire life. And that he's ready to keep going with Super, even if it's harder without Toriyama helping him. So Toyotaro would resume the manga ASAP. This one shot is basically just him gaining experience and refining his skills during the hiatus.

Point being, pressure has to be placed on Shueisha, Toei and Toriyama's Estate to settle this mess so Super can continue.

You are kinda optimistic about the situation, aren't you?. Ngl. If I'm honest, Toyo and Torishima basically said that they can't continue the manga for now, and that the overall franchise returning (the DBS Anime), it's up to Toei and co, but these ones haven't pronounced a single word yet, so the future of the franchise is unknown and we will be without any animated content a couple of years more. Toyo might say he loves DB and wants to continue it, but you know, as he said, it doesn't depend on him entirely....

Not exactly, it's treated as another alternate timeline in the multiverse, not a R>F transcendent realm. Even if it did have that transcendence, there are several problems with anti-feats that would disqualify it anyway. Also Low 1-A doesn't require R>F. It's still quantitative. That's only for 1-A and above that's qualitative
 
So, If we assume that the size of the universes is infinite (I'm not saying it is, just an example) and then the neutral zone Significant is 5-D or Low 1-C, is it possible for hypertime to upgrade 6-D?

The Neutral Zone isn't significant 5D, so no, even if the universes were infinite that wouldn't affect anything

To be fair, a lot of the “anti feats” for it could be explained away, but the fact that Demigra transcends space and time to interact with Beat’s world, it’s a bad anti feat because you can’t become non 1-A and transcend to 1-A without higher order blessing.

Optimistic? I just paraphrased what has been actually said. I have zero expectations of the manga coming back this year and I'm starting to doubt it would return next year at this rate. Toyotaro stating he's ready to resume Dragon Ball is a fact, even if he acknowledges it would be harder without Toriyama's guidance.

I don't really think Toei is a problem here as I imagine they would like to make their money. And given Shueisha's pattern of behaviour I doubt it's Toriyama's estate either. It sounds to me this situation is getting dragged out because of Shueisha's friction with Iyoku and the general brand of Dragon Ball, which they have been neglecting for much of Super's existence.
 
It should be noted that the literal reason this all started is because Shueisha disagreed with and wanted to get rid of Iyoku, something Toriyama himself found to be immensely displeasing. The whole reason Iyoku made CC and started vying for rights is explicitly because of this. The root issue is and has always BEEN Shueisha.
 
Shueisha has always screwed over mangaka. It's the reason we do not and perhaps never will get a Heaven chapter out of Saint Seiya.
 
What a strange timeline we're in with new core DB content being delayed until further notice while the HxH manga hiatus ending last year and now the Black Clover anime
hiatus ended very recently.

Superhero (movie) and Daima were wonderful but both are best enjoyed in a vacuum since while both introduce interesting lore, world building and concepts/characters into the DB universe neither advance nor really contribute to the current narrative (manga) timeline.

It really doesn't help the DBS anime/movies and DBS manga are two separate timelines with the Superhero arc actually tying into the Moro and Granolah arcs in the manga while the movie explicitly treats Broly and Jiren as the toughest (non-GoDs) opponents Vegeta and Goku have fought with zero mention of the manga only foes meaning even if the DBS anime does comes back, it'll cause another film to be retconned just like BoG (i.e: Superhero) to retroactively fit in the Moro and Granolah arcs or the anime version of those arcs will take place after Superhero (instead of before like the manga) or neither arc will get an anime adaptation.

Dealing with Shueisha's legal BS while balancing two separate continuities knowing full well millions of fans want DBS to return ASAP is an unenviable position to be in.

Fan perspective or not, he clearly said that canon doesn't matter and that fans are free to choose what they want as canon or not. There is no absolute offcial canon, only alternate timelines.


The only fandom bitching about canonicity are Western fans. Westerners are so annoying imposing their truth and thinking their thoughts-headcanons are the realiest shit. In Asia most people do not care about this, but Westeners are very arrogant and insufferable

Yes, but Westeners are the only ones making the canonicity issue the real deal, like literally. Not only you impose your cultural views on other societies that don't align with your values, you guys also impose your headcanons in the anime/fictional media. The Toxicity Western Anime fandoms spread is sooo poisonous that is not even funny.

Can't we just enjoy Dragon Ball without caring what belongs to the main continuity and whatnot?. I'm of ethnic Japanese descent, born in Japan (Tho I can't speak or understand the language as I grew up in Malaysia to Chinese adoptive parents since I was 5 years old). And trust me, we Asians view the animanga franchises, etc in an entirely different manner. We consider filler, spin offs, etc as entirely different timelines.

The time where Westeners leave canonicity aside, and understand that the world isn't theirs, that they are not the garden of the world, and that Japanese mangakas or writers choose what's part of the main continuity and whatnot even if it doesn't make sense (Such as all the Marios being the same according to the authors), they will evolve.

That tells me you've never been to Japan nor have you worked there, I have. Let me assure you right now that they're some of the most insufferable people on the planet. Heck, this whole Shueisha bullshit right now? This is precisely because of a bunch of Japanese boomers being the most insufferable people on the planet. I guarantee this wouldn't happen if Dragon Ball was an American franchise.

tbf, if Dragon Ball were a western franchise, it would have half as much soul.
 
Might be wrong on this but I believe the obsession with canon in Western fandoms stems from Star Wars. Where they have six defined levels of canon to keep track of different continuities. The irony is that many Western franchises (like DC Comics or Marvel Comics for example) don't even subscribe to that idea, they just treat different continuities as different timelines or universes from the mainline comics. So why manga is expected to adhere to some sort of specific canon 'rule' is beyond me.

Sometimes I believe fans can't grasp the concept of alternate timelines. They will believe some histories are more valuable, or important than others in a way. When the creators never officially stated something remotely close to that....Look the mess fans are creating with Daima, disliking it becouse it doesn't connect to the main story

I'm talking about sweaty internet nerds raging out over delusional headcanons. It's true it has roots in Christianity but I hold the impression that the obsession in fandoms with multimedia franchises and canon comes from Star Wars.
