Legend of Zelda General Discussion Thread

I smell upgrades. I will try to make a rough calc considering hyrule as big as Australia and try to estimate calamity Ganon earthquake, but I don't promise much. And if it's like high tier 6 I will make a thread about how demise upscales because that's the hatred of his hatred doing that.

Ngl, I still think the BotW MS should just scale to at least 6-C like most other games, given that it's outright stated to awaken it's true power in the presence of the calamity (or at all times after the Trial of the Sword). In entries where the MS is significantly weakened, or not at full strength, we can clearly see it has a different appearance, like in SS or WW, where the guards aren't extended outwards.

If it's at full power and still has trouble beating 7-C opponents, then it's not 6-C.

Using third method Calc for earthquake sorry but it's rough Calc I made is 3.16×10¹⁶ J, 7.55 Megatons of tnt. City level.

Did the new Hyrule Warriors do anything notable?
On a more serious note, everyone and their mother gets some pretty nice acclerated development, especially Ganondorf who was getting stronger at a pretty quick rate during his battle with Rauru and the sages. Some general hax and resistance buffs for everyone, some neat lore and showings of skill for the playable cast that Link and Ganon upscale from, chariot mentioned some feats that's a nice buff to lifting stength (I think he said they at the very least get super high into Class G) for a few characters, hands out tier 5 scaling to the new Korok Calamo which is based, some travel speed buffs thanks to the game confirming Hyrule itself is a continent instead of just being part of one, and a lotta nice bit feats like a Gleeok casually shattering a small sky island apart. Nothing too crazy but there's a lotta nice lil' stuff thata adds up

Digging the costume direction so far, green tunic without the hat looks a bit weird. Def looks like they're going for a more TP based vibe for the looks (Well besides the colour of Zeldas shirt). Did see the leaked set photos too and it looks like they're going the OOT/SS route for Impa instead of her more common old lady appearance

Zelda's look reminds me of Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom (though, I don't remember her using a bow) while Link's outfit kind of reminds me of Twilight Princess (at least, that shade of green does).
Her looks gives a more start of Skyward Sword / Twilight Princess vibe (Outfit seems more casual than her travelling and royal outfits which fits with SS Zelda before she started awakening as Hylia, her darker hair is more in line with TP, the blue colours definitely add a touch of her BOTW and ALTTP designs). She doesn't use a bow in BOTW or TOTK but she does use one in Age of Imprisonment and Age of Calamity (The bow she gives Link at the end of BOTW is also hers) and she also uses a bow during the fight with Ganondorf in Wind Waker and Twilight Princess.

IIRC Zelda also uses a bow in the DIC cartoon as well, and in her Brawl and Sm4sh final smash.

I am going to meet Shigeru Miyamoto tomorrow, what questions should I ask him regarding LoZ powerscaling?
Who is Strongest Link
Rank Manjora, top Ganondorf, Demise, vaati, null and totk Ganondorf
Kind of shi
If Zelda has full triforce in botw
Is hylia back to goddess and could she beat totk Ganondorf
Idk

3 years of waiting for a game where the characters do nothing but DOWNscale from Ganondorf is crazy

My great question is, will Link talk in the movie or will he stay silent? Both would actually be pretty challenging decisions, having a mute protagonist in itself but also giving a convincing dialogue and open personality to one of the most well known silent heroes of gaming in a way fans don't feel it makes a disservice to the character.

They'll have him, maybe not a whole lot but they'll def have him speak
Methinks a good way could be making him a quiet individual actually part of his personality. The kind of guy that jumps into action, solves things without a word, and isn't unfriendly or anything but does keep a lot to himself. Kinda like what BotW mentioned his deal was.

They have to make Link speak. I cannot think of a way they could make him silent without it being incredibly lame, boring, and/or awkward. Granted, I also thought it was really awkward when Link didn't talk in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, and I dislike silent protagonists in general, so that might just be a me thing.

Silent heroes can work, but it's hard and the story has to be built around the silence and make up with many other things like expressions, body language, cinematography, mood and a lot of stuff to communicate given the lack of words. But I agree, Link aside (mostly due to being used to it) silent heroes are pretty swing and miss nowadays, especially with how elaborate plots can get, not to mention how blatant they are meant to be the player's avatar and nothing else (and how badly the black hole the entire plot around themselves).

It's especially bad when everyone else is talking (especially if they have voice acting) while our protagonist just... stands there (it's even worse when other are characters are talking to our protagonist).

I mean, Link does actually talk in the games. In BOTW / TOTK you see him visibly talk to NPC's (There's just no audio of him actually speaking) and obviously any dialouge options you can choose are said by him. The only game where he straight up is actually mute is Echoes of Wisdom due to him losing his ability to speak during his time in the Still World as a little kid. Wind Waker Link even says short phrases like "come on".

Yeah. A typical scenario is someone asking Link for an explanation of sorts and then the dialogue boxes stop appearing as Link makes some gestures for a few moments and then the person Link was talking to reacts to what they just "heard". What I meant was that playing Link like that wouldn't be possible in a movie, given that for all intent and porpuses if the player doesn't hear Link speak, he's essentially a silent hero.
