So the author of this novel has a discord server. Can I use what they say about their novel in their discord server for scans? Like I ain't using my questions, but others. Some of which have happened years ago.

Wouldnt this be the equivalent of Ben 10 fans asking authors on Twitter questions

Well, assuming they aren't powerscaling natured questions. But also, the author kinda just yaps a lot, so even if you ask a small question, they will say a bunch of other stuff too. And most of these questions happened like 2-6 years ago. I wasn't even on vsbw, discord, or in their server at the time.

I feel like this would be worse than asking powerscaling questions on Twitter or QnAs... SO i have to go with no.
Yeah, but I'm not asking anything. These are questions that have been asked 6 years ago, and I stumbled upon them.

Does the WOG statement support already established lore?

Then it is probably valid.

Does the WOG statement contradict already established lore?

Then it is probably not valid.

Ez :P

Wdym, I am not familiar with what happened.
Ben 10 fans spammed power scaling questions to the author or smth and those author statements were used as genuine actual scans and feats and stuff or something I think

One of the DMC boys was pestering the DMC PoC devs on Discord to validate some Tier 1 stuff all the way back when Fuji was in the midst of a verse-wide downgrade.
I see, but these are not questions that are being asked now, but like six years ago. And really, none of them scream powerscaling related. And I have not seen this verse powerscaled or mentioned in powerscaling circles. Most of this stuff is what the author is yapping on their own anyways.

I have a verse where author had to clarify some stuff on his discord since he kinda prematurely ended his novel. It would be really sad if it couldn't be used. I don't think there's anything wrong with it as long as it has a basis within the story and it's not a leading question. Not everyone asking an author questions has ulterior motives and I don't know why everyone here jumped to that conclusion.

Well, it honestly depends on a case-by-case basis.

In most cases tho you should not be pestering them needlessly like with what happened in other cases.

I agree.

Which I have said multiple times already. I, nor anyone else that I am aware of, is a powerscaler, not that they matter because I'm pretty much the only person properly scaling it on vsbw, are constantly pestering them with powerscaling questions. The author has a discord server, a place where people can talk about their novels. Of course, questions are going to be asked, of course the author is going to talk and explain stuff. All I'm asking is to use what they have said, most of which has taken place six years ago. And yes, all of what they said is supported by what they have written and isn't in a place to contradict anything.

Discord statements are very useless and you should actually use twitter, instragram, reddit, youtube, guidebooks, novels, shows, movies, comics and interviews of whenever the author has his statements somewhere.

Edit: I don't use discord for statements but I mostly use Twitter, Youtube interviews and Reddit for the WOG. I'm waiting for the amphibia comics by matt braly

A lot of web novelists prefer using discord to interact with their community. It doesn't make it any less valid because its simply on discord.

I wouldn't call it all pestering (depends on how its done really or the intent) since a lot of these authors have a channel exclusive for asking the author questions.
