Sonic General Discussion Zone Act 1: New Frontiers

There's also Prism Sonic's Infinite Speed feat that everybody seems to forget about (the one where he touches himself)
Would that even be accepted under speed standards here? I haven’t seen any feat like that be accepted as infinite speed for any other setting

There's no official merit in off-site talk, but even staff who dislike the verse stated that it would be an Infinite Speed feat taken literally. You're moving fast enough to be in two locations at once and have a physical interaction with yourself.

So, afaik, there's no reason it shouldn't be accepted.

I just don't usually apply this since he was amped by the Prism.
Yes, but you operate under the framework that the cast don't grow in power/speed over time. So while that's fine for your paradigm, we already scale Post-Frontiers Sonic above both the Prism feat and the Double Boost atm via upscaling shizz.

Oh, for those who haven't been keeping up:

The Imgur scan replacements are about 2/3 of the way done. I'll finally be getting around to doing CRTs again afterwards (once some of the 4 revisions currently ongoing are finished, that is). CrossWorlds stuff, character revisions (I've missed these), all of that crap.

For them to not mention that damn stalactite feat.
too bad, they will & probably miscalc it too

That's awesome!! I'm glad.

This is a massive question but if there was a CrossWorlds CRT about the crossovers' canonicity, would that be best done before or after a CrossWorlds CRT that adds the items and stuff to profiles? I won't be The person to ever publish a CRT, but I'm curious about this.

In regards to the upcoming Death Battle it's practically a graveyard here discussion wise. But I might as well ask regardless what you guys would like to see in the episode. So what are your hopes for Cell vs Metal Sonic?

For me I have a small list despite my overall disintrest in the episode.

- Asymmetrical combat in the animation. I hope that they don't use the same abilities as each other against their opponents attacks. For instance when Cell uses Ki blasts I don't want to see Metal Sonic use energy blasts from his chest cavity as a counter, when Metal Sonic teleports I don't want Cell to also teleport to avoid whatever surprise attack Metal Sonic throws and so on because that would be kind of boring and surface level.
Instead I hope they use different abilities to counter different abilities (and the preview for the episode makes it look like that will happen) so examples like Metal Sonic uses a homing attack barage from all angles to which Cell counters by blocking with his arms while moving around to deflect the attacks (imagine a spinning vortex of blue streaks from Metal Sonic with Cell in the middle blocking the attacks) until Cell changes his approach and emits a shockwave of Ki to blast Metal Sonic away from him. Or Cell holds Metal Sonic in place with telekinesis for a moment before trying to pepper him with Friezas death beams to which Metal Sonic, instead of countering with his own telekinesis that he copied from Silver, uses Sonic Boom (the move he copied from Sonic in Sonic Rivals 2) to blast free from Cells grip and charge straight through the lasers among other possibilities for cool exchanges.

- This is an extension of the last hope except I know it won't happen, the finale will absolutely be a Kamehameha beam clash. Still I want Cell to use the Galick Gun during the fight so Metal Sonic can copy it and allow the finale to be a Galick Gun vs Kamehameha clash instead Goku vs Vegeta style.

- At least a bit of different research from Bowser vs Eggman for Metal Sonic. I doubt this will happen as there are probably things they will save for Mario vs Sonic 3 when that inevitably happens. Still it'd be kind of disappointing if there wasn't anything new thrown into the mix besides just an FTL calc for base forms to scale to (unless they somehow get Metal Sonic flying to a different planet to Massively Hypersonic or something and keep base forms at only vaguely FTL off of cyan wisps just as they were in Bowser vs Eggman, that is the most hilarious and disappointing outcome for Death Battle giving Sonic characters a new calc to scale to).

That's everything because everything else is a list of what I don't want them to do. 🫠

I don't really care because it's just a pity win for Metal. I don't have enough of a shit to give.

Oh yeah, because of the multipliers or growth stuff? That makes sense if I'm understanding correctly.
Growth stuff + upscaling statements, yep
That's awesome!! I'm glad.
Me too! Slowly getting through this has been a nightmare, but I've had great help (you know who you guys are). I'm just glad it's almost over.

But then does base Sonic scale to infinite speed only from Frontiers onwards?

Yeah, pretty sure that's what one of the ongoing threads is essentially doing atm

Edit: Nvm, it was agreed to be done in a later thread iirc

That helps a lot actually, thanks Masked

You are very welcome.
It is the least they can do after the hard work you all have put into the VS Wiki.

In regards to the upcoming Death Battle

- Asymmetrical combat in the animation.

- Galick Gun vs Kamehameha

- At least a bit of different research from Bowser vs Eggman for Metal Sonic

These are all very good.
Masked just wants their research to be somewhat decent, with no major mistakes.
Trying to keep their expectations low.
Good luck.

Pats you.

While looking into some of the docs I have for Sonic scaling, I stumbled upon the one with all the statements in support of the AD for the cast (including Ivo trying to keep up with his genius), each one with a link.

I was well aware of the them being quite numerous (throughout all eras), but what surprised me was the "total" number of it: 26.

We might need to rename the Blue Blur to "Sonic the StatementHog".

One more thing. Are there any decent vs matchup for Illumina, or is she a bit too OP for a Low 1-C character?

Dreams are insane, right?

I had JUST been wondering how many we had. 26 is a helluva strong number, sheesh!

She seems to fall in this middle ground of having decently strong hax and physiology, but then having practically no resistances and no combat showings (aside from her Void half).

So she either does some stomping or gets stomped.

Hard carried by her Enhanced AE1, right?
Part of it is that.

We've never seen her do it and it's never implied, but just imagine you're up against her and she just erases all of your dreams and everything that entails (since dreams also account for desires, ambitions, emotions, changes, and more in the Sonicverse).

Here...

Let's hope the links work.

I have a question for you all. Do you want the next mainline game to be a Frontiers sequel, or do you want a different game direction?

Personally, I would like a Sonic RPG. We're gonna be going on 40 years without one, Chronicles aside.

I need the next game to give me an answer to 2 questions:
  • who the ***** is the God of the Ancients?
  • is there a connection between the "Power of Chaos" and the "Power of the Stars"?

Frontiers sequel
Sonic RPG
Imagine a mix of the 2.

Normal battles and some sections of boss ones follow the RPG rules, while the "gran finale" is Frontiers-like with a lot of Aura Farm. Starfall is love...

I'm also curious as to where that little tidbit will go.

That would be sick, but a Frontiers sequel being an RPG is probably far too good to be true considering they only recently established the Open Zone formula.

Still, I suppose anything is possible... assuming Sega doesn't crack the whip over Sonic Team with budget and staff.

I’d like for it to be a Frontiers sequel (still have unanswered questions about the Master Emerald and the God the Ancients worshipped). However an RPG would be fantastic as like a spin-off while we wait for the next mainline game🙃

I'm probably gonna have to go with Frontiers sequel, but I'd def like to see a Sonic RPG later down the line

Sonic Frontiers was a step in the right direction (where have I heard that before) but it was very unpolished in a lot of areas, in my opinion. So having a game to perfect the open zone formula will probably be the best choice, especially seeing as it'll be used a lot from here forward.

“Sonic impressed everyone.”
In hindsight it's funny to use Omega's line when it's telling us that Sonic hasn't exceeded lightspeed yet which Sonic would prove he has exceeded lightspeed in the same game and call light speed small time even after using cyan laser, but yeah the other Colors DS statements are pretty solid, especially Silver's
