Deltarune: Chapter 5 (SPOILER!!) Discussion Thread

I think your philosophy is valid, but it's not present in the story we're discussing. A man is an adult human male, and nothing else. Flowery isn't human, thus, he is not a man (in sense of not being human). He is just a flower with a male identity.
Asgore is, in fact, not an Adult HUMAN male, and you are saying he is the "Flower MAN"?... ok

I don't wanna be that guy, but both supposed "flower men" are present in this image lol
I agree that it might not be a serious height confirmation. But this image only has one man, the flower is not specified.

Flowery claims himself to be a human
The entire character arc is about how they want to be a human, and how we're just "watching their dream". Also, darkness can make they take any shape their dreams want, so is it really fair to use their physical appearance? I wouldn't agree.

Guys, semantics. Society/Linguistics in Deltarune sees no difference between monsters and humans in gentrified termonology.

They are IN the fantasy... therefore, he IS a man in the context of the Dark World, just likr how Spamtom IS a salesman, as Seam IS a shopkeeper, as Ralsei IS a prince... being "just a role" or not is irrelevant when they are "actors" inside the "story" being told

I really think it is fair. I'd call King a man, or Jevil. I completely disagree that it genuinely necessitates being a human to be honest and only does by definition in the real world because humans are the only "intelligent" life.

Anyway, the game calls him a Flower Man either way

There's a very obvious double meaning here. There's Asgore, the guy running the flower shop, and the literal (soon to be) flower that becomes a man.
Yeah, it's supposed to lead you to believe it's talking about Flowery. Well, Flowery is very obviously not 10ft tall, and Asgore is known for being a bigger fella, therefore, I think the line is about him. Unless we're bringing Kris to the leagues, that's what makes the most sense to me.

Although, uhhh, let me make some back of the napkin calcs

Pretty sure if either Asgore or Flowery are 10 feet tall, Kris ends up being 2m+ through pixel scaling.

Let's ignore the twenty as a gag.
Asgore: 276px (horn) or 249px (no horn) and 10ft tall,

Kris: 162px = 162/276x3.04800 = 1.79m or 5'10"

Not CRAZY for a late teenager

Kris: 162px = 162/249x3.04800 = 1.98m or 6'6"

MF GO TO THE LEAGUES

The "Flower Man" being referred to in the titular song is Asgore of course, it's sung from Flowery's perspective as he witnessed Asgore's life go downhill. Flowery is a flower-man, so it's a pun, but not the Flower Man.

Dw this confusion wasn't nearly as ridiculous as people thinking Pink was Frisk for some reason lol

I think Asgore being 10 feet with his horns makes some sense.

Oh, and the acting during the platforming sections isn't a time stop, during the Hopschef minigame the timer only slows down but does not stop.

I think Sans is the best character Toby has made. Ik that there's amazingly written characters in the series but Sans is the epitome of Toby media. First, he is funny, the perfect representation of Toby Fox's humor. His design is simple, slick, memorable. He plays tricks on you and makes jokes all along and yet he can also be an extremely hard boss.
If we look at it this way, Sans is the represenation of the games themselves. Funny and unpredictable on the surface, underneath there's a mystery, in the mystery there's a hard challenge and by beating the challenge you get to see the true tragedy. Sans has layers that match the layers of the game, he is the incarnation of the game in a way, that's why he is the ultimate character and the confirmations we got in the latest chapter soldidfy that for me.

Weirdly enough in my third playthrough, in the spike puzzle, choosing "Wait and See" makes Ralsei say that he doesn't hate Flowery, that there are things likeable about him(while blushing angrily?) and that he just doesn't like HOW he does things

BTW i just notices Ralsei blushes a LOT around Flowery... even if he is also angry at the same time? When he is truly mad he doesn't blush like when he tried to attack Flowery... does he have crush on the "Flower-Man"?

"what's that look? you're wondering how i followed you? hmmm. as a human, you should know better than anyone. skeletons can't drown."

I feel like a better reason than "it would make these guys a bit taller than how tall I think they should be," especially when nothing in the game seems to directly contradict this statement (other than assumptions of objects' sizes) is needed to dismiss an actual statement of height.

Susie 2.05m height already makes her taller than standard doors, with this she now would be like 2.2m, I think doors height would cap characters heights as consistent

The current heights are rather fine, everyone would be too tall if even Kris, who's generally a bit short, be taller than average adults
