My Hero Academia: Wild Card proposal for Shigaraki but we move (Plus All For One addition)

No no, Damage does have a point.
Shigaraki himself says if Deku would have hit his head with that Fajin punch he’d probably die. Obviously that punch wasn’t going to utterly obliterate him.
I’m pretty sure that’s against quirkless Shigaraki who doesn’t have any regenerative quirks.

Edit: It was against Full Shigaraki, but he didn’t say “hit his head” he said if he was hit “head on” (meaning directly) by one of Deku’s charged attacks then he wouldn’t be able to put himself back together. So it doesn’t really disprove High-Mid or higher regen.

Yeah, that seems pretty clear cut to me. Even if this doesn't get upgraded past Mid Regen, Shiggy absolutely qualifies for the highest possible interpretation of Mid Regen we have on the site because the implications we have for all this is pretty insane.

Basically this
Edited my previous reply cos I found the scan.

Edit:

Scans of people saying they have to reduce him to nothing to kill him is obviously hyperbolic, they’re just saying it’s almost impossible to defeat him without making sure he’s actually dead.
Even Shigaraki talking about himself? He’s the one talking about having to be vaporised to be put down. And Shigaraki isn’t one to brag or over exaggerate his physical capabilities. At least not at this point of the story.

The desc of what he has now
Mid: The ability to regenerate from decapitation or severe brain damage. For machines and vehicles, this would be regenerating from the destruction of critical parts, such as the engine.

Right now profile assumes Shigaraki has the same weakness as Hood and that destroying his brain insta kills him (which is clearly not the case)

What’s the desc of Mid High?
"Mid-High: The ability to regenerate from having all biology completely incinerated. This level includes remains such as ash, dust, smoke, vapor, or plasma."
He still have half his head and torso left so this aint that

He’s exaggerating, how would Cassie know that she has to vaporize Shigaraki based off their short exchange?

Exactly, she literally just met him and the jets havent even finished scanning him
Yeah ok so High-Mid for sure
Nah mid is enough

When has Shigaraki exaggerated his physical capabilities before? The closest thing that I can think is him comparing himself to All Might, which he is. Cassie believes she has to vaporise him because he took the lasers plus prominence burn as @CastoriceTheFifth said. It’s more important that Shigaraki agreed with her belief that he needs to be vaporised to be destroyed.

She didn’t have the means to deal any meaningful damage to him. So she needed the nukes.
Why did Shigaraki say a head tap from Deku would probably kill him?
He said a “head on” (meaning direct) strike from a charged attack might kill him. Basically what Nana said previously. If anything, the use of the word “might” makes it more favourable, as it implies that Deku’s charged attacks may still not be enough.

That attack didn’t even vaporize his arm bro.
I’ve laid down my reasoning so I leave to rest to staff

He could also be talking about the attack that Deku was charging before. And it not vaporising his arm doesn’t really mean anything when we know he can regenerate from most of his body being vaporised anyway (outscales Hood, who survived his body being vaporised). At worst this moment is PIS or an outlier

That same attack didnt even didnt even vaporize anything, just ripped his arm off at the joint. At most that would make a basketball size hole if it hit "head on"

Hood literally died to Endeavors Prominence burn with most of his body remaining wdym "survived" ?! If you meant the first time, he ripped his head off and regen from that

He could also be talking about the attack that Deku was charging before.
He was clearly referring to the attack Deku just used on him, that he refused to land head on. Don’t be disingenuous.

Hood regenerated from his head, not the body that was just reduced to ash.
This moment isn’t PIS or an outlier, since there’s no evidence that you have to vaporize utterly decimate Shigaraki to kill him.
The only evidence of that is statements I believe to be exaggerated, statements that are countered by this scene.

His body still got vaporised though. As you said, Deku’s attack he used on Shiggy’s arm would merely leave a basketball sized hole if taken as shown, but we’re supposed to believe that attack would kill him? It’s more likely he’s talking about general charged attacks, given how he says this after Deku tries to charge another attack with Fa Jin and his experience with them before (such as the one which bust a hole through his whole abdomen).

“And those charged attacks? Not meant for Willy nilly rapid fire either”
“And if you Smack Me Head- On With One Of
Those Moves? I Might Not Manage To Put Myself Back Together”
Key words: those and might
He’s referring to the general attacks, not the specific one Deku just used. He knows that they can get stronger, given he took the attack that destroyed his abdomen. He doesn’t even know for sure whether they can destroy him given his use of the word “might”.

Hood regenerated from his head, not the body that was just reduced to ash.

Again, he could do this from his head though. Even with currently accepted Shigaraki, an attack that merely busts his arm wouldn’t be able to kill him if hitting him directly (the definition of head on). If the JP text says something different then I’ll concede but based on the current evidence, this scene seems like an outlier.

This does though

If anything this is worse, given that the body is regenerating back from the head, there are no fragments of body to regenerate from.

My point is that a “head on” attack doesn’t mean to the head, and if an attack like the one that cut off Shigaraki’s hand could kill him if hitting him directly, then he shouldn’t even have Mid regeneration. But no one is arguing against that because it contradicts most of the series scaling and what we are told and shown about Shigaraki (like him being the perfected Nomu).

Why did you even bring the whole Hood mention, aint this just textbook Mid regen
What I’m saying is that if the attack that cut off his arm could kill him with a direct hit, then that would contradict even Mid regeneration.

Anyway, here’s the JP version of the page and the translations.

He says the attack might have killed him but he also says that it only would have done so if it was a direct hit. Which begs the question, what does direct hit mean? His chest? His head? If Deku knew that, why didn’t he go for his head when AFO was possessing him? Honestly, this scene feels more like him taunting Midoriya to me. Unlike Shigaraki talking about needing to be vaporised, he is saying this to Midoriya in a somewhat mocking way. He doesn’t seem to be taking the situation too seriously either, it seems like he just wants to get under Deku’s skin because he already knows Deku wants to save him.

Do you the translation for him saying a head on attack would kill him ?

My main desktop just died, so I'm not in a good place right now.

To give my opinion. I always found Shigaraki to sit weirdly between Mid and High-Mid.

For the Nomu, we already saw Woman could survive with the top of her brain damaged by Mirko's Luna Ring. Mirko noted that her kick was too shallow to kill. From the information I saw, I believed that death only occurs when they are considered truly dead.

All For Shiggy's last stand does show that he can live with what looks like half of his brain missing.

Mid: The ability to regenerate from decapitation or severe brain damage. For machines and vehicles, this would be regenerating from the destruction of critical parts, such as the engine.

High-Mid: The ability to regenerate from being blown/cut to pieces, brain included, or from a small piece of the user's body, such as a finger, or the heart.

I don't know if half of the brain is enough to count. While I know there are statements that suggest total body destruction is required, I'm not certain how literal these are meant to be. I'm not going to blame anyone if they think he might be barely High-Mid, but I still think Mid is the best option here.
