A WoD Discussion thread

Consensus can’t work against normal guns right?
No, normal guns are maintained by the Consensus, since everyone believes they work.

In fact, if you get shot in the head and survive, that violates the Consensus and unless you're something immune to the consensus (like a Vampire, which is mostly due to game mechanics) you're going to get punished.

Well I’m just putting Marcus against the hunter

Who has guns that can one-shot him but the hunter is 10-A so Markus can one-shot him too. Can that work

Other than that the hunter doesn’t have anything supernatural

He basically just has guns that’s it

It depends if he can get a headshot off, if so, then The Hunter will get a nasty paradox backlash, otherwise, it might take too long for him to realise something's up and for Paradox to kick in.

Is your Hunter a (relatively) normal person or an Imbued?
Pretty much normal

He doesn’t really have anything unusual or supernatural

Unless you count his radar

You know, I love how I just have WoD books lying around my house, but they're literally all first or second edition so chances are about 90% of them are ret-conned into oblivion(For reference, what I have in front of me are Werewolf the Apocalypse WW 3000, Werewolf the Apocalypse WW 3600, and Demon: The Fallen WW 8200)

1st edition is almost entirely retconned, since they were still understanding what they wanted for WoD at the time.

2nd edition is where it begins to become familiar but Revised edition is when everything finally comes together.

20th Anniversary edition is the ultimate edition, fusing all canon aspect of the game into one book line.

Strictly, few things are non-canon, but there's precedent for them to be glossed over.

Right now the hierarchy of canon is:

20th anniversary edition
Revised edition
2nd Edition
A World of Darkness
1st Edition

I tried reading VtM but I'm not feeling it tbh. Any faction you personally recommendations? (I'm not really into the whole vampire concept, might read it later when I'm bored or smth.)

I'd recommend playing VtM: Bloodlines (With the unofficial patch).

Even to people who are bored and over the Vampire premise can't help but fall in love with what that game provides.

It's a fresh, interesting and multi-faceted take on Vampirism and the characters are a delight.

I’ve been away from VSBW for a while, but with the new Tier System, only Essential Divinity scales to Tier 0 correct?

To what does the Abyss scale?
"The Abyss wasn't a place; it was the absence—a hungry maw wider than the Gauntlet itself, whispering silence that drowned even the Wyrm's rage. The pack felt their Rage flicker, Gnosis leaking like blood from wounds that weren't there. The Wyldling howled, birthing tendrils of raw flux to bridge the void, but they unraveled mid-form, threads snapping into nothingness. The Weaver geomid spun patterns for footing, yet the Iron Path twisted, stasis turning to entropy. Even the captive Bane whimpered, its corruption paling against true annihilation—no twist, no recycle, just erasure."

There's multiple Abyss in WoD and is sometimes used synonymously with the Void on occasion.

This is the Abyss which is said to lead directly to the Wyrm. It's mentioned in the Cosmology blog.

Here's a quote from Werewolf 20th anniversary edition (pg. 316):

The Abyss: A tear in the fabric of creation, the Abyss
is a yawning chasm that consumes everything that has been
lost or abandoned. Paths snake down its cavernous walls, descending
into darkness and madness. In its depths, travelers
may find things long gone and things best forgotten. Some
believe that at the nadir of this chasm, a ravenous maw of
the Wyrm devours and annihilates anything that falls into
darkness. No one can prove this, of course, since anything
that falls into the pitch-black void is never seen again.

I did look for this specific quote from my books but I couldn't find it, which book did you get this from?

Oh, I was just about to ask you where I could find it to read. I got this from someone in one of the Discord servers I'm in. I guess if even you still can't find it, it might not be something that actually exists in WoD.

I'll give it another shot now
